Does anyone have a listing of the scheduled 15 editions of TOTP due to be broadcast on 31/12/03 - 1/1/04 as part of BBC Prime's TOTP 40th Anniversary celebrations?

BBC Prime has a website but as far as I am aware you can only look up a week in advance. Why the BBC doesn't do a TOTP night on BBC3 or 4 I don't know! Have you seen the garbage on it? Probably not as there is absolutelty nothing on it, bar the odd timeshift! By the way you can't get bbc prime on Sky unfortunately. I asked a contact in the industry if it was a hidden channel, but it isn't. I'm sure someone in the forum has contacts abroad that will tape it, and enter into the Christmas spirit and send us all a copy!

I didn't realise they were showing complete editions - I thought it was just clips!

I've never even heard of BBC Prime. What in the name of **** is it? It's certainly not on the cable package I've got.

BBC Prime is BBC's international TV station, they are showing 15 special 'performances' rather than episodes on New Years Eve. (Nothing to set the video for) For more info see :- www.bbcprime.com/totp40/

I thought that maybe the 15 "NEW" clips might somehow suggest the 15 editions they plan to broadcast? I think with nine hours of programming we must surely be looking at a few complete shows?

BBC Prime do tend to show a lot of re-branded music documentaries and I guess some of these will fill their 9 hours of Music/Pop shows on New Years Eve. "New" programmes are very rare on BBC Prime, they only tend to show programmes which they have not been able to sell to other broadcasters. They also seem to have very limited resources and finances so I guess they would not have the money to buy the rights to show complete shows, the most we ever get is TOTP2 with the odd performance cut out for some reason or another.

Oh, and at least two of the performances they will be showing are not even from TOTP's !

Have you checked out the Prime website for listings?
Wall to wall cack.
Doesn't auger well for a decent TOTP night, unless David Dickenson was the resident DJ on the eps selected.

And another big HELLO! to Dubs. You have been over on the other board far too long. Wall to wall cack sounds interesting! interior decorating will never look back. ASM.

I think I will submit my CV to the BBC.
I know I could do a far better job at celebrating TOTP's 40th anniversary than those who are presently in charge.
Let's see now, in the week leading up to Christmas, some Xmas day TOTP's from the past, definitely all the ones that still exist from the 70's.
On New Years Eve a whole night of TOTP's on BBC2 featuring complete shows that have not been shown since they were originally broadcasted (including all complete remaining B&W shows).
And in the new year we will be showing complete shows from the archives as voted for by you the TOTP2 viewers.
Now that surely must be a better way to celebrate a birthday??

I think I will submit my CV to the BBC. No point if you don't have a relative at the British Nepotism Corporation

BBC Prime? ?? I've just realized we can't get BBC Prime in the UK. How on earth are we going to be able to see their planned Top Of The Pops 40th Anniversary marathon on New Year's Eve/Day? Does anyone know if we'll be able to watch this historic event on another BBC channel on Sky etc.? Why oh why would they broadcast an event like this to the rest of the world but NOT to viewers in the UK? It just doesn't make any sense.

I wouldn't call it an 'event',´have you seen what they are showing ? nothing to write home about.
In fact this is probablly BBC Prime's only bit of original programming this year (except if you count the inserts for CBBC Prime) All they are doing is cobbling together some old TOTP clips which have been shown thousands of times before on TOTP2......(in fact I wouldn't put it past them to have copied/pasted the clips directly out of TOTP2, BBC Prime is low low budget)
