Pete
There are the 25 Years of Top of the Pops VHS videos that were issued circa 1989 - volumes 1 and 2. I have both - these contained performances from T Rex, Sweet, 10 cc, Shawaddywaddy, Dexys Midnight Runners, Communards to name a few from memory. Some performances even contained the presenter link/chart rundown...

can anyone list any official videos which contail performances form TOTP material. IE Marc Bolan, The Sweet, Glam Rock 1,2,3 etc ? If you include TOTP material in compilations of clips from a single artist then I'm sure there's lots - Bowie's "Starman" on the recent DVD, "Blue Monday" on "New Order Story"; I'm sure the Stone Roses' "Fool's Gold" was on a Roses compilation too. I think there was a Smiths video a few years back that contained TOTP performances as well. Wasn't "The Last Time" on The Stones' 25x5 compilation, also? I think the full list of this kind of release would be pretty long, although admittedly the fact that TOTP was usually mimed means compilers tend to use OGWT / Later in preference whenever possible...

The first pre-recorded video I ever bought was Madness' "Complete Madness" in 1982 which featured the 6/9/79 TOTP performance of "The Prince". Five years later I bought an Echo & The Bunnymen video which contained "The Back Of Love" (17/6/82).
Can't think of any more at the moment.

Pete, we covered this ages ago on the old forum. Maybe you can still find the old posts? Anyway, on The Buzzthingys 'Playback' video there are TOTP performances of 'I Don't Mind', 'Everybody's Happy Nowadays' & 'Harmony In My Head'. On The Stranglers 'The Old Testament' there are TOTP performances of 'Go Buddy Go', 'No More Heroes', 'Walk On By', 'Don't Bring harry' & 'Thrown Away'. 'Dog Eat Dog' is on an Adam & The Ants video but not the American release which I have. On 'The Gary Glitter Story' there is TOTP performances of 'Rock N Roll Pt2', 'Do You Wanna Touch Me', 'And Then She Kissed Me','It Takes All Night Long', 'Dance Me Up', 'I'm The Leader Of The Gang' and 'Always Yours'. On the Queen Greatest Hits DVD there is 'Killer Queen' and 'Good Old Fashioned Loverboy' but I don't have that, I believe 'Los Palabros' may also be on that one. On The Smiths 'The Complete Picture' there is 'What Difference Does It make', 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now', 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side', 'Shoplifters Of The World Unite' and 'Sheila Take A Bow'. That's all I can think of for now. I presume you're aware of The Sweet video, the Bolan ones and Glam Rock 1, 2 and 3.

Few others:
"Daniel" by Elton (the "Disco" version) on "The Greatest Hits of Elton John", along with "Your Song".
A peculiar b/w off-air of "Never Say Die" (which exists in broadcast quality) on a Black Sabbath video.
"Virginia Plain" by Roxy on one of their tapes (I think called "The Collection" or something).
A whole bunch of T Rex stuff on assorted T Rex tapes, including notably all bar 2 of the "Disco" T Rex clips on "The Ultimate Collection".

On the Queen Greatest Hits DVD there is 'Killer Queen' and 'Good Old Fashioned Loverboy' but I don't have that, I believe 'Los Palabros' may also be on that one.
The TOTP clip for 'Las Palabras De Amor' was on the 'Queen Greatest Flix vol. 3' video, and it's also going to appear on the Greatest Video Hits vol. 2 DVD which is out in November.

The Story Of The Undertones DVD just released 26/1/04 features two Top Of The Pops performances 'Teenage Kicks' and 'It's Going To Happen' along with two performances on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1979. Bonus features include all seven of their videos including the recently unearthed 'There Goes Norman' found in the back of a garden shed! Outstanding documentary if anyone is interested in picking it up.
