I know well of the poster, he is a member of the British Vintage Wireless Society, and has been transferring and restoring some old reel to reel video units and tapes for a hobby. Has added some interesting material in the past on his you-tube page, is a really nice chap, and am sure the TV companies or institutions have contacted them before and asked. Has the other part of the 1965 Sunday Night at The London Palladium George Raft show. Jimmy Tarbuck even thanks him for coming on at such short notice, as was a fill in guest replacement.: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mAIjRDWQ9ukAlso has David Nixon at the London Palladium : uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8qvAKV1HoEgCheers, Lance.

Looks like this tape is something originally recorded by the internal technicians.
Presumably someone took a reference copy?
Fascinating stuff.

Bit of a hefty bump, this, but just thought I'd confirm that this IS a missing edition of Magpie (not surprising given the survival rate), and I, with some assistance, have managed to date it as being the show from Friday 21st September 1973. This cropped up because I found the file on an old hard drive - well, three flv files, to be precise, so I could easily figure out that it came from You Tube, but it had since been removed, and I couldn't recall anything about it. It just occurred to me that I might well have got the link originally from this forum, and sure enough a search brought up this thread, hence the bump. The YT user mentioned above, ta455driver, still has a channel, but nothing like this is on there now (I don't have the other items mentioned by LanceM, by the way). I can't recall the policy here on YT links, so, to be on the safe side, if you want to watch this then search for the YT channel with my name.

It was a fascinating view of how it was all put together, I am sure everyone here would want to see it

Very interesting.
Recording talkback was not allowed at the BBC, but that didn't stop some shows being recorded with TB. The last episode of Pebble Mill at One (1986) for example.
