Some old information in that article, I think. All you need to know is right here:
web.ukonline.co.uk/sotcaa/
In short, yes, The Undertakers Sketch is only available as an NTSC conversion (although for some reason I thought the copy had been sourced from Terry Jones, but this is probably not true). The edit was done some time in the early 1970s, but the story goes that the show was never repeated anyway.
Series 2 Episode 7 (Attila The Hun) had its last few minutes replaced for the first repeat in 1971 - this was to remove Cleese's impersonation of Michael Miles, who had died not long before. The Take Your Pick sketch was replaced by the sequence from Episode 11, from the Railway Timetables sketch, through to the end of Gavin Millarrrrrrrrrrrrrrr's monologue, then cut back to the original credits from Episode 7.
Both edits still exist. When BBC Video released Series 2 in 1985, the original episode 7 was used. When the show was repeated in 1987, the edited version was used by mistake, causing much confusion for yours truly, who was taping the series rather than paying £24.95 to buy the sell-through tape!
Ironically, I think I read somewhere that Episode 13's Undertakers Sketch was replaced on the master tape by the Take Your Pick sketch... but not sure if that's true! Anyone know what's actually on the tape?
There are many, many other edits and weird changes - see SOTCAA for more detail than you'd ever imagine, such as the bastardisation of two shows in the 3rd series and the "extended"/"edited" Series 4 shows...
(And this is the first time I've heard that the Late Night Line-Up appearance was recorded... according to SOTCAA's Python Pages, the reporter was on-set for the recording of Episode 13 and was part of the crowd that stormed the Undertakers Sketch... amazing)
