I hadn't seen this footage has it been on before. even with the glitches it was great to see. Apparently they performed it 3 times on TOTPs. The video has lots of glitches do we know where if this could be improved. This was in Sky Arts Have you got it yet? The story of Syd Barrat.

I read about it in the 2010s in a mag and its on their The Early Years 1965–1972 archival set plus its been uploaded many times. I heard the tape its on was so unreadable at first it needed quite a few bakings to get it even to its playable state it's currently uploaded at.

My primitive edit with an acetate mix of the song dubbed on, is the most watched YouTube version and has been shown (a clip of) on BBC4?! Lazy buggers. The one in the documentary was not my version thank God..!! 🤣

A good reminder too that time waits for nothing.

As a huge Floyd fan, I am simply grateful that we are able to see this clip in any form at all.

Had to double check -- three TOTPs, all three mimed See Emily Plays, 06/07/1967, 13/07/1967, 27/07/1967. That sucks. The BBC said the recovery was both 6 and 27 July editions, so potentially we could have ... two mimed Emilys. Shame they didn't get to mime three different songs.

So is the clip we have today a combination of two performances..? When I was first discovering Pink Floyd way back when, one of the first books I read, a biography of Syd Barrett suggested that they also performed 'Arnold Layne' just the once on Top of the Pops. However, as I've gone on to read in more detail, it seems that these three performances of 'See Emily Play' are the only times they appeared. Can anyone confirm whether or not they performed 'Arnold Layne'?

the surviving video is from 6th July. I recently found upgraded audio for this clip. Sadly I understand that the next performance recorded on the video was not salvageable. I'm not sure if it is completely lost for ever or potentially waiting for future technology to recover it. I heard that the tape was pretty effed up and disintegrating as transfer took place ?? Maybe someone who knows for sure can chime in on that.
Syd and Rick did actually sing some live vocals over the track on each appearance. At that time there had to be some live performance element due to Musicians Union rules. Audio for the other two appearances also exists although I've only heard them in poor quality. You can tell they are from different appearances by when the applause come in at the end but sadly it's hard to really tell how much of Syd's live vocal can be heard. I'm not sure if those 2 appearances exist in more listenable quality. I'd love to have seen the much fabled 3rd appearance but at least we have one of them. hope that's helpful.

oh and they didn't perform Arnold Layne on TOTP. The video was due to be played one week but the record went down the chart I think so it didn't make the show. Same thing happened to Johnny Kidd and the Pirates - filmed Hungry For Love, possibly for the first TOTP edition but record went down in the chart so it was not broadcast and was destroyed. Damn.

I heard Pink Floyd appeared on a show, possibly Late Night Lineup, & had a difference of opinion with a German musicologist, who was complaining about their music being too loud!

that was "Look of The Week" in may 67. They played an edited Pow R Doc H and Astronomy Domine before Hans Keller gave his opinion in an interview with Syd and Roger Waters.

I have this set on Blu-ray they have done a good job in fixing the 1967 TOTP videotape but what sticks out for me is the Pathe Newsreel clip of "Scarecrow" shot in July 1967 onto 35mm colour film the quality is pristine, looks like it could have been recorded yesterday not over 56 years ago.
