Tbf, speaking only for myself I’ve never actually seen the Alan Freeman intro to the Beatles from these finds before, although it’s possible I just missed it back in the day. Pink Floyd, Dave Davies and Procol Harum from this bunch surfaced on YouTube not long after they were found (completely thrilling at the time!)
Does anyone know if The Turtles ‘She'd Rather Be With Me’ from
these finds ever appeared online. IIRC their only in person appearance on TOTP and with a live vocal. Always wondered why that one was held back when the others made it online pretty speedily.

"The tape was badly damaged and features constant rolling. I've tried to accurately sync the original song to this performance by fixing the constant speed fluctuation on the tape. I've also used AI to restore Howard Kaylan's live vocals, although some parts still have the original song's vocals due to tape damage."
105 views in 5 months. Was it private before?

The Turtles clip seems by far the best quality footage from those two salvaged editions. Indeed from around 0.55 there are no distracting glitches at all, from the moment Howard gives his humorous gurning/ad-libbing to camera. If any remnant of these editions could be shown again on TV it's this one.
I'm sure I saw the 'Alternate Title' promo on YouTube once some years ago but have not seen it since.

Was any effort made to make another capture of the tape?
I do wonder if, rather than disintegrating, the tape is just sticking?
Also, I do remember when the Floyd clip surfaced - but what is the background behind this tape and the attempts to recover it? I'm certainly curious to know who recorded it and how?
Quite amazing that something from all the way back then just happened to be taped privately.

You're thinking of the 6th March 1969 episode, which was taped by her late former husband Maurice Gibb. |
