Yes, I saw it in today's Telegraph. A pretty good article I thought.

Just read it, it is quite good. Mentions the recent discovery of more Desert Island.

Am I a bad person that I read it and rather than feeling pleased for those people, just thought "Why couldn't it have been Doctor Who?" Desert island is audio. Hence would appear in a reel to reel collection. Assuming tv soundtracks were recorded, we're fortunate all dr who audio exists. Id love hearing about soundtracks from adam adamant, out of the unknown, avengers, etc. showing up. Perhaps a focus on other tv soundtracks would be helpful.

Most of the people doing the audio recording were kids which is why a lot of missing shows that were aimed at adults do not even have surviving soundtracks.

Ahh that would explain why there isn't much audio for many of the missing episodes of Our Of The Unknown as it was aimed more at adults. Such a shame but it makes sense. Thanks MJ

Thanks MJ this is the same reason that there are more surviving tapes of top 40 Musicradio 77 WABC than there are of the adult aimed music format that was on 1130 WNEW-AM.

Several clips and several entire episodes. SF and comedy do well in the audio department.

Only possible because somebody audio-recorded it in the 1960s.

As well as a few others although one had no photo's to help tell the story. And IF IF IF the 35mm copy of Beachhead sent to Italy one day resurfaces, and its audio isn't usable, then that recording could be used to restore it.

My point is valid though: most of the tapers were kids so things that didn't interest them have generally speaking not survived as audio recordings. That includes airchecks of radio stations from that era with adult orientated formats. Few want to tape their father's radio station.
