I watched episode 1, series 1 of The Goodies on That's TV last night and despite the screen warning beforehand ("This programme reflects the standards, language and attitudes of its time; some viewers may find this content offensive"), which is fair enough, there was still a word bleeped from Tim Brooke-Taylor when he was trying to work out a word clue on their screen. Does anyone know what this was, and why it seems necessary to do this in tandem with the warning?

Is it possible that there only ever was a bleep, and it was left to the viewer to fill in the gap.
The Wendy Craig sit-coms Not in Front of the Children and And Mother Makes..., had episodes (i.e. the plot was re-used in Mother...) where mum was trying to stop the kids swearing, only to swear herself. Both times the swearing was covered by a bleep.

hi John, I don't think that was the case, it certainly doesn't make any sense in the context. TB-T is looking at some picture clues, and it would seem that he did say something which is now not considered acceptable but I really can't work it out or lip-read!

I think perhaps Tim says "big n-- --gs", but even though I'm able to listen to it I am not sure, as it 'doesn't make any sense in the context' (not much, anyway). Did they include the image of Jimmy Savile just before? Did they include the 'Fairy Puff man' 'advert'? How about the audio of Rolf Harris earlier on...

Thanks Darren, you could be right about the bleeped words. I don't remember an image of Jimmy Savile or any Rolf audio but the Fairy Puff man ad was still in!
