Surprised nothing's been mentioned about this, very carefully worded, preorder?

Over four hours of never before released episodes of 'The Morecambe and Wise Show'. Lost for over fifty years, now available for the first time on DVD.
In 1968, the BBC broadcast the very first series of 'The Morecambe and Wise Show'. One of the BBC's first ever full colour comedy series, the programme would run for another nine years, quickly becoming one of the most beloved BBC television shows of all time.
Sadly, none of the eight episodes that made up series one of 'The Morecambe and Wise Show' were ever archived. And until recently, they were thought lost forever. However, after more than a decade of patient archive research and restoration, the series is now available to enjoy again. Four complete episodes have been recovered on film, with the other four surviving as high-quality audio-only recordings. Following extensive restoration all eight episodes are presented here on DVD for the very first time.
Also included is an extensive collection of additional special features, all previously unreleased. They include a once lost one-off special episode from 1970; an unbroadcast 1972 studio tape; a specially shot BBC 2 trail; two rare 1960s BBC interviews; deleted scenes and featurettes.
Due to the nature of the archive material, sound and picture quality will vary.
Best Sellers Rank: 124 in DVD & Blu-ray (See Top 100 in DVD & Blu-ray) 11 in Comedy (DVD & Blu-ray)

Thanks John. So. If the "lost one off special" 1970 series 4 episode (a few months after the 4th series proper...and 1st one shown on BBC1) discovered by Gary Morcambe is listed as an extra, that means 4 'complete' series 1 episodes are included! The two found by Phil Morris and colorized The partially complete edited episode previously released (in b/w) on series 2 set ..probably now colorized (but with edited bits reinstated?) So if we include the above to be 3 "complete" ones, what is the fourth!
Completed recovery on damaged ep2 or 2nd copy of ep2 (Morris suggested he maybe had a better copy at the time), or Further recovery of another series 1 episode?
Speculate away......but it looks like we're getting another M&W episode! BFI event will no doubt reveal all.....

So it's clarified, we are getting the recovered ep2. In the best that can be done with it (and too poor to colourise). So we now have half of series 1 surviving. Excellent

The one scanned by laser? Ha! So they completed that?

The one scanned by laser? Ha! So they completed that? That will be interesting. Judging by the state of the source material I guess the recovered images aren't good enough to broadcast but will make an interesting dvd feature

I'd expect some further stabilising has been done, but yes not broadcast quality I'd assume. Certainly not colourised (process probably loses chroma dots, if they existed, so only option expensive hand colourisation with a source that isn't great in first place)

I'm kind of hoping some further stabilising or other work has been done since that early clip. But maybe not. I'm sure it took a while to even extract all the images.

That film stayed in my fridge for about a year. Both the BFI and the BBC took one look at it and said 'no chance'. Personally, I think they were right! Paul

This kind of thing could also be used to read burnt scrolls from Pompeii & neighbouring villages.

If the BFI and the BBC said no chance, who stumped up the cash and resources to continue with the (presumably expensive) recovery work? Do we have altruistic fans to thank yet again for their dedication and perserverance?
