I was watching 'An Evening with Nat King Cole' recently, a BBC TV special from 1963 and I was surprised to see that it was sourced from it's original 405 Line VT, as opposed to the usual telerecording. I've always been curious what TV programs from this period survive on 405 Line VT, of course the BBC's record pales in comparision to some of the ITV regions when it came to maintaining videotape, though some interesting examples have been kept such as the 1965 TOTP excerpts that were preserved by the late Bob Pratt or the World Cup final from 1966.
I have compiled a list, which is still a work in progress, as I'm still lacking info such as 60's Blue Peter episodes that were kept on 405 Line VT, along with potentially dozens of other shows. I've only included BBC TV/BBC1 material up to the end of 1967, because from that start of 1968, all programs on BBC1 were recorded on 625 Line B&W VT. I'm also unsure which ITV Networks maintained recording in 405 Lines during the 1968-9 period, since this differs from region to region.
