What a huge shame. I watched galaxy 4 for the first time tonight and had nothing but praise. I hope someone does step in. Tragic a kickstarter type project cant be used. I know the bbc and licensing creats a problem with this sort of thing.

I know that animations aren’t to everyone’s liking but realistically they’re about the best way of filling gaps. However, things have to sell - are the animations not selling or not selling enough?

Yes, really sad news to start the year. I have really enjoyed the release of these animations and been so impressed with the result - a tough job.
Really hope we can get some hopeful news that they can continue in some fashion in the future. 4 seasons just one story short of completion!

I'm not a great fan of the animations but have bought them where there are good extras and a telesnaps option, so as long as those are in there too. Don't care about steelbooks or any packaging gimmicks however. Power Of The Daleks was definitely worthwhile I thought. I wrote somewhere else today that if they spent ten times as much in cost or time they just still wouldn't be the original programs, so it's not about the quality.

Well, this does not come as a surprise to me, although it is still sad news nonetheless. Was looking forward to "The Wheel in Space" myself.
With the inflation rate being what it is, etc...

The animation of the start of Episode 1 was quite well done imho. I’ve always considered Season 3 to be a bit of a pipe dream and 4 to be difficult but 1, 2, 5 and 6 are almost within touching distance of completion.

Interestingly the Radio Times article says BBC Studios declined to comment when they (the RT) asked if BBC America had withdrawn funding etc. So not officially confirmed yet, though it seems likely it will be.

Oh well in the meantime i guess the Loose Cannons will have to do. Makes me wonder if the Blu-ray seasons for Hartell & Troughton could be in doubt.

Oh absolutely not, they've got plenty already to work with. Even Season 3 in its current state has a lot more content than some later fully intact seasons.

I know they've made a start by getting Galaxy 4 out but by doing the big sellers first ie the Troughtons they cornered themselves by ultimately having to face up to eventually tackling the Hartnell period.

Reminds me of "The End of the Universe" VHS collection. Which I still have somewhere.
There were a few clunkers as well as gems in that set.
Could be a way out of their problem . . . ?

Ah but that was the final USA vhs release just been lazy rather than dribbling them out individually.
