Hello,
Can someone possibly point me in the direction of pictures or even an interview which show or even discuss the state of the archive where both Web of Fear and Enemy of the World were both found.
I am interested to know the condition of these prints compared to others including the "cans" in which they were found

I don’t think it was an “archive” - store room is probably a better description!

Oh.
Do you happen to know if the prints in better condition that the other materials and how long had they been there?

The report in DWM said that the prints needed some TLC - not surprising after having sat in a storeroom in Nigeria for something like 35 years.

OK but 1) Were they in a noticeably different condition from the other prints. I had understood that the room smelt of vinegar. 2) How long had they been there.

The report in DWM covered the prints of Enemy and Web and they seemed to be in similar condition, needing splices renewing, etc. I have a vague recollection that there might have been a slight whiff of vinegar but, overall, the prints weee quite reasonable as can be seen from the DVDs.
I recall something from PM to the effect that he got into a storeroom somewhere - not Jos - and there was a strong smell of vinegar.
Enemy and Web seem to have been in the storeroom for about 35 years - they were broadcast in the mid 70s and then PM got there in the early 2010s.

Do you happen to know where I can find a documentary/interview with pictures if possible where he discusses all of this?
I don't discount what your memory, its just I'd like to be sure.

You can check DWM from late 2013 which has information on the recovery/restoration of Enemy and Web. There are various things from PM since then although he’s yet to provide a detailed account of when he went to various places and what he found. As far as Enemy/Web are concerned all we really know is that when he initially got to Jos both stories were complete but after he’d finished fighting Nigerian red tape Web3 had gone. We don’t know exactly when he first got to Jos - it could have been early 2012 or maybe even late 2011. Perhaps hacking into airline booking systems might help!

The Special Edition of Enemy Of The World has a doco about it. Phil mentions the station he got into where he found the Sky At Night prints and that smelt of vinegar. Actually one of the early Morecombe and Wise Print he unearthed (missing from the archives) was pretty much slush in the can.

That's very helpful. Thanks very much. I shall take a look at that.
I might have overlooked this but there would not appear to be any documentation as to their origins
If there was indeed a strong smell of vinegar, that would suggest that WoF and EotW, bearing in mind their condition, were put there at a later date. The question is when they arrived and from where they originated

I've found the following. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a0pS3lubwoThe film make up sheet which shows the apparent date when it arrived looks as if it was written yesterday even though the room was humid. Is this to do with the darkness of the room?

The recovery and the restoration is quite incredible isn't it?

We don’t know exactly when he first got to Jos - it could have been early 2012 or maybe even late 2011. The recovery was in 2011; followed by two years of repatriation, restoration and the odd cajoling to return episode three. Then about two months of absolutely stupid attacks on him before the release.
