Thanks for the info Paul Clark. A shame to hear further confirmation of the inaccurate shoddy sounding Hartnell visage. I'm surprised they've stuck with the Fury-like waving arms; surely they must have read the widespread criticism of this back when Fury was released?! That wasn't a dealbreaker for me (unlike the ungodly mess of Web3), as overall I very much enjoyed Fury because of most of the other elements. Those arms are silly though! And I'm surprised they've been allowed back for an encore. Thanks again for your thoughts on G4. I'm glad to hear that Vicki & Maaga & the Drahvins came out well. I hope Steven hasn't been done too badly. No worries. As I said, they've improved slightly. For example they've tried a face on shot of The Doctor and Vicki walking towards the camera as they enter The Rill ship. The design of The interior of the Rill ship also bugged me as it's fully solid (the walls were transparent in the live version). Steven isn't too bad design wise. But Hartnell really let me down. If you expect what you get on the cover, you'll be disappointed. Go in expecting Fury like animation and you'll be fine. I, admittedly, thought we'd get similar to the cover. Which was my mistake.

Paul Clark - Thanks very much for all the extra info. Very disappointing about the Rill ship as the transparent design in the original surviving episode worked really well I thought. Good news about Steven.
Come xmas I'll watch with a slightly lowered expectation based on all these things - which should result in a hopefully very enjoyable experience. I appreciate what you've said about your own hopes been unfortunately slightly dashed a bit by the elements you mention. It often works that way if something doesn't meet what we regard as a reasonable expectation. It's a shame those aspects weren't done better.
Your very helpful comments which you've kindly posted have helped me - & maybe some other readers of your assessment - to adjust what I'm expecting to see. Which should improve the enjoyment as mentioned. Thanks again!

I think you are right, I watched Fury with reduced expectations for the same reason & enjoyed it more than if I had come across the “limitations” myself.

I don't suppose they included Mission to the Unknown (animated, or even the University of Central Lancashire recreation) in the release, did they? I have a bad feeling there's going to be a gap between 18 and 20 on my Doctor Who DVD shelf by the time they're done releasing them...
Though I guess they could add it in with a release of the Myth Makers, assuming they animate that serial.
