Don and Phil were true giants. Sad this isn't pages long. I've posted on other threads on other forums at the time but wanted to post here too. They were a major inspiration for The Hollies' Alan Clarke and Graham Nash among many others, with so many breathtakingly well done recordings to be discovered and continually enjoyed!
Surprisingly perhaps, their mother is still alive the last I'd heard!

The Hollies (and also Simon and Garfunkel) are the most obvious acts influenced by The Everly Brothers, but in their own way they were probably as influential on the 60s as Chuck Berry... in fact Chuck himself when asked what he thought of The Beatles said that he preferred The Everlys!
As you say, they also have a fantastic back catalogue. 'Two Yanks In England' is absolutely essential listening for any 60s beat group fans.

I remember when my Dad started buying CDs he bought ones of my of his favourite acts from his youth, including the Everleys.
While I had heard some of their more famous songs before, this introduced me to some of they lesser known hits.
