Thanks, Richard. I'd been meaning to post about this, but could only see the little they'd posted on the Renown homepage.

I’m sure I’ve asked before but are any of the ME hunters here in touch with TPTV?
Collaboration should be a positive thing imho.

This looks up my street except bloomin Mike, I'm not racist but, Reid I prefer to remember his sadly doomed attempts to bring decent music to the airwaves, particularly with BigL, which at its all too brief peak made a lot of us happy for a while some years back.

I never liked him since Swap Shop. I wish there were a few more lost Swap Shops rather than TISWASs.

Couldn’t agree more. It really is a shame that more from the last 2 Chris Tarrant hosted seasons don’t survive. You can keep the last season as IMHO it just didn’t work without the old team. Fabulous anarchic program.

On the plus side, working separately has advantages too. If people bear a grudge against the BBC ánd Kaleidoscope, they could return lost programs there instead. The fact that recoveries will be made public again must be very appealing (depening on what motivations donors have).

I must admit that I REALLY appreciate the way that TPTV broadcast the recovered programs. Much much better IMHO than mouldering away in an archive. Perhaps Kaleidoscope should consider starting a TV station too?

Perhaps Kaleidoscope should consider starting a TV station too? Erm they did in 2015: Big Centre TV Kaleidoscope TV Limited was granted a licence to establish a local television station in November 2014, following the collapse of City8, a proposed station centred on the Birmingham area, which went into administration after failing to secure sufficient funding.[4][5] Kaleidoscope was given 10 minutes' notice that its bid had been successful before an official announcement was made by the regulatory body Ofcom.[6] The new licence, initially known as Kaleidoscope TV, was given an Ofcom deadline of Saturday 28 February 2015 to launch Kaleidoscope TV to bring local television to Birmingham, the Black Country and Solihull from 2015, Initially, Big Centre TV was jointly launched by Chris Perry and former ATV announcer and television executive Mike Prince, the station's director of programming. Prince also served as the station's chairman. Archive programming During its first six months on air, Big Centre TV aired a selection of archive programming, including the children's television series Ivor the Engine and Terrahawks, Jack Hargreaves' rural documentary series Out of Town, and the surviving episodes of Midlands-based soap opera Crossroads.[20][21] The station also produced a number of nostalgia-based entertainment shows including The David Hamilton Show, The Ads Show, Crossroads Check-In, Tiswas Pies Again and The Long Lost Shows Show. As the channel went on air, plans to repeat Crossroads were at the centre of a disagreement over the amount of royalties to be paid to its former actors – Paul Henry (who played Benny Hawkins) reportedly threatened to take legal action over the issue.[22] The station discontinued Crossroads repeats in September 2015 and latterly phased out its Kaleidoscope-related archive output and nostalgia programming. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_TV#Big_Centre_TV

Fair play to them though. In hindsight I should have said a national archive TV station like TPTV showcasing their discoveries. Perhaps some sort of partnership with TPTV could work but obviously would be for them to suggest / discuss.

Perhaps Kaleidoscope should consider starting a TV station too? There’s almost certainly a copyright holder so just because something is found doesn’t mean it can automatically be broadcast. However, TPTV look to have steadily built relationships with copyright holders which is good news 👍 It’s taken a long time but they look to have finally cracked Auntie - Secret Army is, I believe, the first BBC material they’re showing.

Haven’t had an answer back yet if the unscreened final episode is in the package yet. Fingers crossed.

Fabulous anarchic program. I was there from the start in ATVLand. The last season had lost it's magic, the regulator had watered them down.
