Bit of a personal journey of memory and discovery this one. I remembered a drama from the early seventies but couldn't recall the title or any of the actors in it (I was twelve at the time) except it involving a young man arrested for an assassination and the authorities descending on a village where the young man came from. From time to time I looked for it, including on here but finally thanks to a newsclipping of a review by a very helpful man on a Facebook group, I have at last tracked it down and it transpires the drama was an episode called The Elimination, part of a series on the BBC called Menace, and very interesting it is too. Unfortunately the episode (The Elimination) seems to have been one of those victims of the wiping cull, but two timecoded episodes of the Menace series do seem to exist in full on YT. A 50 year wait and search for a title and details has been resolved and one can hope that maybe there is a possibility that a copy of that episode and maybe others in the series can be found or that an audio recording is around somewhere or stills or a script?

They’re not particularly interesting but these are the two photos used in the Radiotimes — one from the original listing, the other from when the episode was repeated along with five other episodes in January/February 1972. These were, The Straight and Narrow, Good Morning Yesterday, Man With a Mission, Something Cries Out and The Innocent.

Thanks John and David for those posts, those photos are fascinating and are the first images of the programme I have seen almost fifty years to the day of seeing the programme. If any other stills or info come up, would live to see them here. Thanks
