Watched part 1 colour animated last night; thought it was brilliant. I'm not sure I'll ever watch the animated part 2 - can't bring myself to do that when we have the actual one. Looking forward to the rest, though - especially part 4, which must hold the record for the longest sequence with barely any dialogue in it (Wheel 1 would be the other contender).

I very much enjoyed the first episode yesterday, although I was watching in black and white!
I didn't find the animation jarring at all. It seems it is very much in the style of Faceless Ones which follows on nicely.
I really love David Whittaker's dialogue (and scripts generally), especially between Waterfield and Kennedy and the misunderstandings in language.
I will also be watching the reconstruction with the complete episode two when I'm done with the animation.
All in all very pleased with this release.

Absolutely loved the animation. I have only watched the black and white version so far. See if you spot the nod to Galaxy 4 in Ep1!

Just watched first 3 episodes (I watch in black and white with the original surviving episode(s) on these sets), and really enjoyed the animation. Great job by all involved! Will watch the remaining 4 later this evening. Must try the colour versions at some point on these sets. Maybe one for the Season collection set!
Spotted that Galaxy 4 picture reference as well in the poster for a concert in ep 1! Nice touch!

My only complaint is that they did not have maxtable hold his arm out like a dalek plunger(which someone here remembered) .
Other that that i could find no major fault.

I have just finished watching Evil of the Daleks, and boy what a fantastic story. I loved it and the animation was spot on. What a difference between this and The Web of Fear. It begs the question as to why we have so much variation in quality regarding the animations. I know that different companies have been involved, plus you have to factor in the advances in animation. But Web and Evil have been produced close to each other, yet they are like chalk and cheese.

But Web and Evil have been produced close to each other, yet they are like chalk and cheese. From watching the documentary on the recent web blu ray and the making of the animated episode 3, the guy said the mo cap animation was much easier and faster to produce, you could make changes and replicate scene’s very easily, where as with the other animations if you wanted to change anything you had to fully re draw it. The mo cap way with its quickness also lead to cheaper animations, the way I took what he was saying was animations with multi characters, costumes scenes etc. would be very difficult and expensive to recreate and the mo cap is the way to do these, not necessarily the best way but I think maybe the only way we will get master plan or Marco Polo and possibly highlanders. the animation of evil as with faceless ones is superb but so is the story, I wasn’t over-fussed on web of fear as a story it dragged in places. the mo cap does need some refining not sure why they had to have arms constantly waving about, I don’t frantically wave my arms about when speaking so I’m not sure why they did this when capturing the characters and as has been said the likeness of some wasn’t very good. question is if they do another animation with mo cap and people still don’t buy it where does it leave the rest of the missing stories, I think I could live with mo cap and a little improvement so I could watch highlanders especially, I would love to see smugglers done not sure how tricky that story would be to animate. for me I have the audios which are ok, I’ve watched telesnaps which I don’t care for, obviously love evil style animation but could live with and would buy web style mo cap if that’s all they could do for the tricky animations.

I get where you are coming from and I dare say that’s what the marketing guys would want, but from the reactions I’ve seen & heard there’s a lot of us who wouldn’t consider buying this style of animation without dramatic improvement.

I do get all the pros for Mo Cap, but in The Web of Fear, it was poorly executed. As has been pointed out, the waving of the arms just did not look natural at all. Mo Cap when done well is excellent, just look at some of Andy Serkis’s work.

Have to echo the positivity expressed by others with this release (though admittedly I’ve only watched the first two episodes so far!). As has already been mentioned, Evil’ seems more to the standard of ‘The Faceless Ones’ rather than the divisive ‘Fury From the Deep’. No bad thing. Hopefully the upcoming Galaxy 4 follows that same former standard. Also, did I notice an ‘Easter egg’ of sorts on the wall posters (outside the warehouse in which Jamie and the Doctor become temporarily incarcerated) in episode 1? I got the feeling there was an ‘in joke’ there but couldn’t quite comprehend it…

Binge watched in black & white with the original episode 2, up to episode 4 so far. Brilliant effort all round. 10/10. Only one teeny weeny gripe, Maxtible’s hair & beard were too tidy in the animation if you insert the original Episode 2 but it really didn’t matter. It’s nice to confirm how good the story was, sometimes you revisit something and it’s lost its appeal but definitely not in this case. This, Web & Snowmen are really the pinnacle of b/w Who IMHO.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, Animation was far better than usual. Lets hope Galaxy4 is similar.
