I've been enjoying the second series of this and I've just watched the episode of 1978 TV appearances.
Featured on it were the following two clips which I can't seem to find any information as to whether they're missing or not.
The first was Dire Straits performing 'Down to the Waterline' on Granada's 'What's On' from 22nd June 1978 (introduced by Tony Wilson). The on-screen graphics mention an appearance by The Clash on the same episode (this is not subsequently shown but presumably exists as it's in the same episode). Are these performances missing?
The second was Big in Japan (featuring Holly Johnson on bass which I'd never realised before!) performing 'Suicide a Go-Go' on Granada's 'What's On' on 23rd February 1978. Again, is this known to exist?.
One more thing: as the programme went into and out of the commercial break there is a montage of quick clips, some of which are then shown in full in the programme, but some not. One of them that isn't then shown is somebody playfully wrestling with Tony Wilson, presumably while being interviewed. Does anyone know who it is? I could take a screenshot but I don't know if you can post pictures here?
Any help with the above would be greatly appreciated.

Please forgive my ignorance, but is it correct that I would need to subscribe to Kaleidoscope in order to find out exactly what they hold in their archive in relation to my query above?

It was Wreckless Eric, John - seen here on his debut LP wearing the very same jacket!

Thanks Kev, of course it is, well spotted. I thought it might be but then I thought not as I was obviously getting it confused with Wreckless Eric's appearance on What's On performing Whole Wide World from July 1977, which is on the Channel 4 1986 compilation on YouTube 'The Way We Were'. This very brief snippet is obviously from 1978.
Answering my own question above, The Clash on the 22nd June 1978 episode of What's On is an interview with Joe and Topper by Tony Wilson. I don't think it's ever been shown since? I got this info from the producer of the series who I tweeted.
