To be fair I have listed 1 TV Theme suggestion from all contributors so far to poll number 1.
it'll be interesting to see how the voting goes for this second poll
Cheers

A good bunch of Poll 2 choices, William!
I voted for Eon Grainer’s theme for The Prisoner. Barry Gray’s theme for UFO would be my next choice.
John’s suggestion for “all of the above” works for me 😉

I just had to check that I hadn't got it mixed up with Henry's Cat's theme! There's also Roobarb and Custard, of course. The lovely Spot the Dog theme got replaced by an inferior one on DVD, I believe. (And how horrible it was not to hear e.g. the Man About the House theme on spin-off films.

This thread has got me thinking, OK I’ll come quietly…
There really are some great themes - or what about slightly widening it to opening credits?
I’ve come up with three categories:
1. Pictures and music - something like the BBC’s wonderful “Miss Marple” with the equally wonderful Joan Hickson. Add to that the original “Tinker, Tailor” with the Russian dolls, the Avengers or the Saint.
2. Pictures and a song. “William Tell” is an excellent example, as is “Adam Adamant”. Sir Lancelot and Robin Hood had the song at the end.
3. Pictures with a voiceover. There are some real classics here. What about the very dark, even creepy, “Captain Scarlet”? Remember the original “Battlestar Gallactica” with the voice of Patrick Macnee? “Star Trek” and TNG fit here as do “The Outer Limits” and “Twilight Zone”.
Any more?

Peter Gunn has to be on some list somewhere. And The Monkees opening theme and the closing theme (For Pete’s Sake).

Thunk! at the start of Robin Hood was soundtrack enough, though for the first season or so we also got a four-line ballad setting up each story. One of the episodes on the Network set is from France (or Canada), so we have a song about Robin des Bois. (Or is it Pierre des Bois?).

Zzzaap, or whatever it was called, had a great opening-theme. All the more remarkable since I think the show was targeted at deaf kids.

Great idea John ... why don't you start a poll with these categories
