on the 30th of august 1969 'the monkees' was on BBC1 with a hour-long special produced by jack good and was indicated in radio times as a BBC tele-recording so i understand they made this for a international audience.does this exist or is it missing? i'd like more information on this.

It was broadcast earlier that year on BBC Two on 24 May 1969. Made by NBC and just before Peter Tork left. The Monkees had lost the plot by this stage.

there was another special the monkees did which was broadcast on BBC1 at 3.30pm on 28/12/77 produced by mickey dolenz entitled 'the monkees golden greatest hits' was this ever released commercially on VHS or on DVD?

George Melly does an interesting albeit short review of it in his book Revolt Into Style, a recomnded book for anyone interested in pop TV in the sixties
