Well the 35mm prints shown in the 1990's "Dr Who Weekend", or at least the evenings after the main event in NFT 1, looked really rough, almost as it they were original release prints and very worn. Seeing them on the big screen restored in 4k will be enlightening as a comparison.

Just a quick update: the Season 22 box set, announced way back in January and missing in action ever since has now got a release date at last! June 20th.
Anyone know why it was delayed?

I don't know but could hazard an educated guess it is to do with the Current war jn Europe. I've seen other blue Ray releases delayed as apparently the Ukraine was large contributor somewhere in the supply chain of pressing discs. I don't know if it was the actual manufacturer of the discs or the materials or the machinery ect but other sets including some Deluxe editions of some games have seen 3/4month delays. I know they are a large producer of Neon gas which is used to cool cutting lasers that make microchips. As I said that's my best guess

Been working my way through the Season 22 set. Fantastic new interviews by Matthew Sweet - and loads of other fab extras.
I reached Timelash last night and (controversially…), quite enjoyed it with the new special effects! Been a loooooong time since I’d watched it, so really couldn’t remember too much of it, but very enjoyable watch despite it being generally not well thought of. The Behind the Sofa segments are so much fun as always!
But blimey - going back to my opening comment, the interview with Nicola Bryant was a real eye opener for me. Very sad she had to go through all that, but bless her, she just shrugs it off as that was just how it was in those days.

I know she had to spend much of the making of The Mark Of The Rani with a neck brace under her costume after picking up an injury.

I found the Nicolas Bryant interview jaw dropping and by far the best interview so far. In many ways its a shame its taken so long for some of these things to come out. I think time lash gets more flack than it deserves due to the poor special effects so I'm not surprised them being updated improves the quality. If only they could cgi replace Paul Darrow to some one not doing the Richard the 3rd impression we'd be on for a cracker. There's far worse things in season 24/25 and 17/18 than in 22 in my opinion

Very true, I do love the behind the sofa bit and think the the Davidson tardis crew are by far the best on their regardless of which era of the show they watch. I hope they keep them for season 1-6 as I know Peter in particular was a big hartnell and Troughton fan. Did feel sorry for Wendy Padbury, sly seemed almost bored by her company and she was clearly trying ro spark conversation and he just seemed uninterested. Where as with Sophie or bonnie he was much more animated.

Agree on all counts there! Would be nice to see her paired with Frazer but I expect that will be to come when we hit the ‘60’s sets.
Can’t wait to see some of those get released, but it is such a shame we don’t seem to be getting the animations after TAS - although no official confirmation (on anything!) as yet. It will be great to see Davison comment on those early seasons, and I always thought it would be good to hear Capaldi on the Pertwee’s for the same reason!

Capaldi would be great especially if you paired him with Sean pertwee. Have him commenting in his father's work and what he remembers of the time similar to Elizabeth Sladen's daughter on season 12 and 14. I really do hope they come up with something for the animations the enhance the remaining material so much. Has anyone ever discussed what the budget is for these projects. Curious more than anything but just wondered how much they cost and how much of that BBCA was contributing

I think time lash gets more flack than it deserves due to the poor special effects so I'm not surprised them being updated improves the quality. It also suffers as it shares its title with one of the best, in my mind, episodes of UFO. Plus the unfortunate anagram of that title being "Lame stinky plops" - too easy a target for many.

From what I've read Timelash was green lit because it could be cheaply & quickly made, balancing the books for the location heavy stories in that season.

I think there were a few cheap to make stories along the years, Carnival Of Monsters (which ended up being expensive!), Kinda & Frontios come to mind.

Virtually every TV series does that. Think of Star Trek - either the original or Next Generation. Several stories set in, or almost entirely in, the Enterprise.
