Hi Everyone
I really enjoyed watching the surviving episodes of The Dalek Master Plan my question is given the length of this story what are the chances of this being given the animation treatment?

I know a lot of the forum will disagree but personally I would say definitely yes. It’s a cracking Dalek story, with a lot to interest folks. Yes, it’s long, but I would think they would include Mission to the Unknown & Feast of Stephen & give it the best possible treatment as it would create a lot of interest. Remember, it’s not that long ago that it was unthinkable to some to consider animating more than two episodes.

Agree with the above comments. Can't wait for this one to be animated! What an epic adventure!

Given time and money I'm sure it will happen eventually, but it will be a big undertaking. It wouldn't surprise me if it ends up as one of the last animations (if not the final one outright).

Surely not Scott-that doesn't seem to make sense! The last one should be The Space Pirates! But I do understand the concept of the carrot and stick when marketing animations.Release the less anticipated ones first whilst keeping fandom in thrall waiting for the more popular ones...

I outlined some thoughts on animations on another thread. Space Pirates is 5 or 6 episodes to animate and completes Season Six, why not do it? You sell it first as a standalone and then a couple of years later as part of a Season Six blu ray release. Masterplan has attractions but whilst MTTU should probably be included, what about FoS?

I think in many ways The Dalek Masterplan would make the ideal release for the 60th anniversary year. A blu-ray box set featuring the three re-restored episodes (or more if any come back...somehow), animations to fill the gaps, plus the UCLAN recreation of MttU. I'd pre-order it now.

I think that it may not be too long. If indeed as reported Evil & Snowmen are on the way it does seem that the most popular & fondly remembered serials are being done sooner rather than later, which might mean that some serials never get animated but on the other hand that Masterplan is rather higher on the list than some folks suspect.

I'm sure if they can get the budget for it, they'll do it. It just has to be understood that it's a rather large project (and I expect will probably get broken up into two separate releases just to make it more manageable). As with Marco Polo if it doesn't get thrown in for the 60th anniversary, we might as well assume it's being held off for the end of the range.

My plan, cunning or otherwise!, was to work towards completing seasons - although Evil would probably be popular. Snowmen and Wheel - for which the start of Episode 1 has been done - would complete Yeti, Cybermen and Season Five. “Monster” stories should sell.
