So today I was watching Saturday's rerun of Dad's Army: Series One, Episode Six - Shooting pains on BBC IPlayer.
When watching the scene where the platoon arrive at the shooting range I noticed a rather dodgy cut just after Wilson says: "Squad Stand at ease, stand... um... easy". In the next shot Wilson has changed position and the audio sounds jarring. I went and checked Britbox and my DVD box set and the cut appears on both of them. (About 8 minutes in)
I own a copy of the complete scripts of Dad's Army so I pulled it out and looked up Shooting Pains and indeed material has been cut out. Whether it is missing on the other hand like in The Battle of Godfrey's Cottage I do not know.
Most of The Major's line had been cut (Italic = Missing) Major: "Good afternoon, chaps. We are going to do a spot of shooting today. I gather your shooting is not all that it might be, but if you miss the target you can always fix bayonets and charge, what? Now first of all we need four chaps to go down into the pits as markers. That all right with you, Captain?"
I have done some searching but I have not found any information about this. Does any know if this material is "missing" or if it just was cut before broadcast and if so why?
Edit: I have just gone through the script and found that there is also a cut scene where Walker meets Laura in her dressing room? Maybe these were cut for timing?
