Just to follow-up on Adam and Peter's posts, "On With the Show" was heard on the soundtrack of the film screened at the Scala (CINEMA and not the "Hard Day's Night" location), the song in all probability used to accompany its title sequence.
The group themselves are also likely to have been glimpsed in the print screened that night. A never identified musical act whose appearance gave rise to much hilarity early on is thought to have been Jeff Lynne & Co*. They were filmed in Hyde Park with their then single "The End of the Road" the most obvious candidate for inclusion.
Neither song featured in "Musicorama: Popdown", the 25-minute edit found in 2009, though one or both may still survive in the 35mm reels I salvaged from the director's Hong Kong film library that same year.
*It wasn't, as one reviewer posited, "Zoot Money doing a really flowery wimp out":
“...the night’s entertainment started with the film ‘Pop Down'. This was a typically English 1960’s piece with no real story line and lots of strange goings on, as well as lots of nice girls in wonderful clothes, otherwise it was pretty naff. The musical soundtrack was quite bad too, except for the really neat ‘Madman Running Through the Field’, played by Dantalion’s Chariot. God knows who the band with the flares and the silly haircuts were, possibly Zoot Money doing a really flowery wimp out.”

How about.. The Young Idea, or The Truth? Both appeared on TOTP at some point. Added! I've also removed Honeybus and Idle Race. Any other suggestions anyone?

There's some footage of the 1969 line-up of the band from the movie "Supershow":

Another band that both (a) Entered the UK charts and (b) Appeared on TV are The Mighty Avengers. They cut nice versions of no less than 3 Jagger-Richards compositions, namely 'So Much In Love' (a minor UK hit at No. 46, as well as No. 22 in Australia), 'Blue Turns To Grey' (pre-Cliff Richard!) and '(Walkin' Thru The) Sleepy City'. Pretty sure no footage survives!

I thought you probably meant the original line up Peter (their more interesting phase, IMO), but is there any record of them having appeared on any TV shows or that they were filmed at the time?

Don Partidge on TOTP survives. He's also in the Discorama edit of Popdown found by Peter Prentice in 2009 mentioned above.

Beat!', and The Silkie on 'Beat Club'., and AJ has posted clips of Pinkerton's Assorted Colours and Don Partridge. Not sure about the others? I specialise mostly in '50s rock 'n' roll and '60s beat!
