Larry Williams
Arthur Alexander
Johnny Kidd and The Pirates
Jimmy Justice
Peter Jay and The Jaywalkers
The Big Three
Bern Elliott and The Fenmen
Hedgehoppers Anonymous
The Young Idea
The Truth
The Mighty Avengers
The Idle Race
Feel free to add to (or subtract from!) this list...

What's the criteria, Peter - artists that made the Top 30 (in which case Idle Race wouldn't qualify)? I can think of literally scores of 60s artists who probably weren't ever in front of a TV or movie camera ! Or are we just talking about bands / singers that definitely made TV appearances?

I more or less only featured charting artists (Idle Race are an obvious exception), and would also probably go for those that did appear on TV. Another consideration is perhaps whether or not footage survives of the artists in their prime. As an example, there are some recent-ish audience clips of King Size Taylor, but none (as far as I know) of King Size Taylor and The Dominoes in the '60s. Of course, there is also LOTS of footage of The Pirates without Johnny Kidd from circa 1977 onwards.

That clip was recently provided to Ted Taylor, who was thrilled to see it.

A very underrated band (anyone who's seen my 'Let's Stomp!' book will see them receiving plenty of praise throughout!).

Really late period (post Lynne and even post Dave Pritchard!) footage of the Idle Race from around 1971 does exist from Beat Club with them backing the vocalist King Biscuit Boy. The original rhythm section of Greg Masters and Roger Spencer are still present. Okay not what most would associate with the name but technically footage of the group from their time under that name:
The Idle Race as most remember them were in (one cut of) the notorious 1968 semi-lost film Popdown which Peter Prentice has spent over the last decade researching in depth, and although he has found a lot of material from the film, AFAIK the cut with Jeff and the boys (last seen at a showing at the Scala theatre in 1984 which Peter audio taped at the time) is still MIA. Apparently in the film they appear performing 'On With The Show' in some way, exact details unknown but as Peter recalls it was prob a promo film type affair.

A member here a while back discovered footage from an elusive doc/musical (whatever it was) called Popdown which purported to have a session with The Idle Race. Apparently filmed 68/69 but the whole project was a chaotic mess which continued after the director's death and drove the footage finder nuts and I think he gave up on trying to view what he had or unite what he had due to life commitments. I put up an IMDB page with everything I knew about it just to generate some interest. www.imdb.com/title/tt0260288/referenceBTW Peter Jay ran/run? a theatre or amusement centre in Yarmouth .

Prob not much help in locating Hedgehoppers Anonymous footage, but as a sidebar this article on the Strange Brew website on the group is fascinating: most don't know that the group continued on past 1966 into the early 70s, had several complete turnovers of personnel, eventually moved to South Africa (where they had more hits and even released an album) and that two members died in road accidents!!! thestrangebrew.co.uk/hedgehoppers-anonymous/thestrangebrew.co.uk/hedgehoppers-part-2/

Interesting stuff, thanks Peter and AJ!
Another group I nearly included was The Paramounts (who later morphed into Procol Harum of course), but then I remembered this footage of them backing Sandie Shaw:

I've been reliably informed that the same band and song on 'Thank Your Lucky Stars' also survives.EDIT: My contact was mistaken - it's the same 'RSG!' clip that Robert mentioned!

Here's a clip of Honeybus in action from 1968, it's only a 1 minute fragment, presumably made for a promo. As things currently stand, this is the only footage of the band currently in existence.
