Whenever there's a montage of newspaper covers in a film or TV show, or someone's just holding up a paper, I love to freeze-frame to check out how well they've done faking the headline for the purposes of the story, and to see what the rest of the day'news was.
!952's Child's Play, with Anneke Wills et al has two montages. Genuine stories on the cover are: Plane's Hostess Lost Saving Babies, Bride of Four Days Sees Husband Die, Man to Hang For Shooting Wife, Barking Dog Murder: Man Detained, Black Hat Clue in Bookie Killing...Obviously, the Daily Express had a theme running there... I take it that 'Flying Youth Vanishes', 'Secret Robot Flies Back' are fake, along with the main 'Children's A-Bomb Hoax'.
Surprisingly, the paper's cover-dated August 1953, though Renown give 1952 as the year Child's Play was made/released.
