A while back, I managed to recover the 1963 MW contest and get it back to Kaleidoscope. That was in Mexico.... The 63 contest was won by Jamaica, and whatever one's views maybe on beauty contests, it would have been quite special for Jamaica, as they'd been an independent country for less than a year. Anyway.... one of my habits is revisiting shows and series I've located to see if there is anymore. By fluke, I stumbled on a couple of minutes of the entertainment from the 1969 contest. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4P3wnDurEi8(0.17 to 2.10 approximately). Yes, this exists in monochrome at the BBC, but I'm pretty happy with this, as it's early BBC 1 colour! I'm guessing the Miss World organisation have the whole tape, but.... it's a start.

The clip you provided is a colour telerecording which it's rare in itself especially as it's from the BBC. Presumably it was done for export markets that were broadcasting in colour but lacked the standards convertor equipment to convert source material on VT. It would be interesting to find out if this Colour TR survives in full for this edition, in addition to the B&W TR that currently exists at the Beeb.
