Such a brilliant director, what an amazing CV for both cinema and TV, drama and documentary. I'm sadly wondering if we are now done with the Up series now, but what an incredible series to have as his legacy.

They should continue it until the last one dies as a tribute to his legacy. Did Michael Apted have a child or trusted person to continue the work?

The last checkpoint for the series was just before the coronavirus, which has affected everyone. It will be interesting to see how it has affected the people and whether class had a bearing on the outcome. In 2026 hopefully this year will all be a memory and we could face this gripping drama. They will all be 63 and hence in the high risk category, their parents in their eighties and very vulnerable. I would sadly expect a death for someone close to them based on current statistics. Sympathies if that is already the case.

Looking at the biographies of the 7 up people, they perfectly represent the categories of people affected by COVID in therms of health and career and domestic set up. The film crew needs to be out there NOW capturing this for 2026.

Surely the point is they ONLY filmed every 7 years as a catch up? Not all the time...

Surely the point is they ONLY filmed every 7 years as a catch up? Not all the time... I agree. As I said in my first comment a snapshot of their lives but the last look back included some clips of the interleaving events. The head to head look back should be at the 7 years.
