Sad to read in the obits in MOJO that Ken Hensley, multi instrumentalist for Uriah Heep & The Gods, has passed away after a short illness at home in Spain.
Another of my personal heroes I was hoping to catch one of his shows with ex Heep members Paul Newton & John Lawton playing their early work.
The Hammond solo on Gypsy at high volume still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!
A sad, sad day.

RIP to the very talented Ken Hensley. For me this is his crowning achievement, the superb 16-minute title track to Uriah Heep's 1970 Salisbury album.

Couldn’t agree more. I would love to have seen Uriah Heep with Dave Byron or the Hensley, Newton & Lawson group do this live. My favourite Heep album, particularly Time enough to live, Lady in Black & of course Salisbury.
