Why are folks here so aggressive against the guy who has generously offered PBS recordings of Dr.Who? His attitude and generosity should be celebrated. His attitude is far different from those those who simply want to collect for the sake of collecting, or those that run dusty archives like a black hole, or those that want to sell stuff for obscene profits. Here's this guy who wants to share what he has; and he gets jumped on by those who are self-appointed experts who likely think they know everything but actually know nothing.

I do not see the feedback that way. Look at it on the positive side: at least people aren't creating unrealistic expectations for themselves, and others. The sad fact is that off air tapes would have to be really early recordings to be of any interest. The chances is simply quite small that there were missing episodes or colour copies showing there undocumented as late as that.

No agressive was intended here
We appreciate his interest in finding missing episodes. I simply wanted to inform him there would likely not be anything of interest from a bbc position.
That being said, from a fan perspective, there might be things of interest such as local promotional pieces, etc .
I say this relating because i have a usa collection dating back to 1979 and i can't find anyone interested in digitising and sharing it
There are groups that appreciate this kind of thing and if you desired to digitise it, there will be people interested.
Best George

I'm currently talking with a fan on the comment section of this video (https://youtu.be/6a0pS3lubwo). He said : "I have a lot of early Dr.Who tape. I would love to get them to a professional archivist. No longer having a VCR I can't speak to their quality. Some years back our local PBS station ran all of the episodes in order. I did my best to record all of them". He tried to contact the BBC and PBS but zero response. What can he do If you're still talking, could you please at some point check if he recorded any other BBC programs?

Not just BBC but any British TV programmes, ITV included. Well, true. Or occasionally even an American program, that is probably not lost, but extremely hard to find.

When was Season seven and eight originally broadcast? That's the holy grail of US recordings

They were first broadcast in the USA in 1972 but that was before Betamax was available. But Season's 7 and 8 were broadcast up to the fall of 1978 in a few select markets late in the day (Los Angeles, Buffalo, Chicago and Boston) to name 4 that were airing the show after Betamax was invented. And we had video recordings from Chicago (Terror of the Auton's), Buffalo, (The Ambassadors of Death), Los Angeles (The Daemons). In fact every one of the first 72 episodes made available in the USA was video taped except Mind of Evil (which was erased). I have always wondered which US city "Silurian's", "Inferno", "Colony in Space", "Day of the Daleks", "Curse of Peladon", "The Sea Devils", "The Mutants" and "The Time Monster" were actually recorded from. I had them all on video tape in the early 80's. I am pretty sure "Claws of Axos" came from the repeat omnibus broadcast in Los Angeles in 1977 but I could be wrong

He just posted this:
The Station is WVIZ Cleveland Ohio
They started with An Unearthly Child and went on from there.
I am a terrible organizer but here is what I have so far:
1- Power of Kroll, City of Death 2- Warriors Gate, The Keeper of the Traken 3- Snakedance, Mawdryn Undead 4- The Ribos Operation, The Pirate Planet 5- Terminus 6- The Armageddon Factor, Destiny of the Daleks 7- The Horror of Fang Rock, The Invisible Enemy 8- The Creature from the Pit, Nightmare of Eden 9- The Horns of Nimon, Meglos 10-Sunmakers, Underworld 11-The Visitation, The Black Orchid, Earthshock 12-Dragonfire 13-Robots of Death, Talons of Weng Chiang 14-The Daemons 15=Hand of Fear, Face of Evil 16-Revelation of the Daleks, Trial of a Time Lord 17-Logopolis, Castrovalva 18-The Claws of Axos, Colony in Space, Day of the Daleks 19-The Caves of Androzani, untitled Colin Baker 20-Resurection of the Daleks 21-Planet of Fire, The Twin Dilema 22-Four to Doomsday, Kinda 23-Brain of Morbius, The Seeds of Doom, The Mask of Mandragora 24-Full Circle, State of Decay 25-Vengence on Varos, Mark of the Rani 26-Carnival of Monsters 27-Invasion of Time, The Stones of Blood 28-Time Flight, Arc of Infinity 29-Dr Who Special ? 30-Dr Who Movie ? A commercial video: Destiny of the Daleks Also 15 tapes that have unreadable labels
No missing stories so far or anything before The Daemons. Could the "Dr Who" film be one of Peter Cushings? What could the special be? Maybe one of the shorts they made in the eighties? Since it's not listed amongst the titled stories, my guess would be that 'Dr Who Special' is The Five Doctors. 'Dr Who Movie' almost certainly the Paul McGann one from 1996.
