Gary Russell has already said that the teaser is the one for Fury specially made for the release announcement. Ah, well I'm afraid I missed that. That's why I shared that idea that it may have been something else.

I should never wish to sound ungrateful but following the OP link and seeing the picture of Pat Troughton holding the yeti statue made my heart skip a beat. I've seen that picture before but today it brought home to me how as good as these animations are they really can't reveal the peculiar, indefinable magic of that era. That's not a criticism, but it has made me feel terribly wistful. I sometimes wonder if those of you who got to see these episodes back in the 60's have it worse than those of us who have never and probably never will see them. Do you folks feel the loss more keenly? To have been to Eden and tasted its fruits may be worse than never having been there at all.

With out a doubt yes, but on the other hand the feeling when the majority of my favourite serial, Web was recovered and confirming that, yes it was as good as I remembered it was pretty special.

That last sentence immediately makes me think of that Star Trek episode The Way To Eden!

As Richard Bignell says: It was said at the time that the animation covering (some of) episode 1 of Wheel was done for the BFI event. However if indeed this was absolutely the only reason for it being made - ie. for a onetime-only screening at the BFI, then to me that pretty much fits Richard Woods' description of the "unlikely" possibility that maybe it was made "just for the hell of it"!😂 ...I should add that making it for a couple of hundred afficiandos at a public screening, although that kind of is "for the hell of it", also sounds like a very good and valid reason to me. That would explain why it was only a shortened version of Part 1. If it started as a full project then stopped, you'd think they'd have gotten as far as finishing all of Part 1 instead of only a few minutes worth. I particularly love how the Doctor passes out from banging his head, or whatever he did (I dont remember), then in the closing scenes can be seen casually sitting down like theres nothing wrong with him XD Worth noting that, aside from the Servo Robot (which AIUI was created using CG elements already in existence from a fan project), the 10 minute mini-episode features only the Doctor and Jamie, both of whom are in their Macra Terror guises. If it was a full blown project, there would have been the necessity to design and create characters who appear on the Wheel itself, to say nothing of the backgrounds.

Just watching the colour version of Power and you suddenly realise what a monumental task it is to re-create a long lost TV serial as pure animation and the commitment that requires. It's no huge feat of creativity and easy to take what you see on screen for granted.Evil of The Daleks is one of the pivotal Troughton stories with it's rich and complicated narrative and production.Much respect to the animators for undertaking such a venture to bring to life a long lost 7 part serial for fans of Dr Who!

We don't know that they are planning to do this anytime soon ... do we? Unless you're taking what the Mirror reports as 100% gospel?

They've been 50% on the money with animations though, so expect an animated Evil and only half of 1 episode of Snowmen. Those BBC bosses though, what can they not do...

Nice to see that there was an award given out for the release of The Macra Terror (link below) - good signs that the animations are being widely approved of outside of us hardcore fans! www.gallifreyannewsroom.com/?p=10212

It was stated at the MBW event that it only got made due to these three elements already existing.
