If true, this is 10 more missing episodes animated and it would leave only 50-some left to animate.

The line "Between 1967 and 1978 the BBC routinely deleted programmes to create more archive space." appears senseless, but on reflection, I suppose it's true!

Wonderful news, when confirmed. If it is the case, they do seem to be focussing on the famous monsters - although of course we have had macra and chameleons - I just hope that eventually they do stories like The Savages, Toymaker and Space Pirates as well as all the historicals.

Well .... considering the BBC didn't even have an archive until 1978, it's a bit of a stretch for them to say the BBC wiped the tapes to make room for more of tapes when there wasn't even a room!

Great news to start the day with! 2 good choices - fingers crossed for official announcement soon! If true, this is 10 more missing episodes animated and it would leave only 50-some left to animate. Indeed - using my favourite link below (they have a smart summary table just a little way down), currently we have 29 missing episodes animated (including September's release of FFTD), so with these 2 stories having a combined 11 missing episodes we get to a nice round 40 animated, plus 1 recreated (Mission to the Unknown) leaving 56 not presently watchable outside of telesnaps or audibly. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who_missing_episodes

Delighted, but also a little disappointed as I was kidding myself that they hadn’t been animated already as they were part of the unnamed 6 or 7 episodes that may or may not be in private collections.

This would complete Deborah Watling's run (other than the MIA Web Of Fear 3)

Delighted, but also a little disappointed as I was kidding myself that they hadn’t been animated already as they were part of the unnamed 6 or 7 episodes that may or may not be in private collections. It's highly unlikely that the prospect of a handful of orphaned episodes coming back would affect the animation of missing or mostly-missing stories. Indeed, it could be an extra selling point if they, for instance, issued an animation of The Abominable Snowmen which also included a newly recovered episode.

I hope it's true although my 2nd choice after the animation of the Evil of the Daleks would've been the Wheel In Space

In a way going for two high profile stories is a little disappointing IMO (if of course it's true at all). I quite like the fact that we've had some leftfield choices ahead of the headliners, for instance having the teams work on The Faceless Ones, which is less well regarded, in the same year as fan favourite Fury from the Deep, was something I found refreshing.
I'd have liked to have seen that continue with perhaps Evil of the Daleks or Abominable Snowmen and something like The Space Pirates or Galaxy 4.
(And it's beginning to irritate a little that Hartnell's missing stories are currently being ignored. And to think we fans used to refer to Troughton as 'the forgotten Doctor'. That's an apt description for Hartnell in 2020.)
