This full edition will probably not be up for long and get copyright striked..so fill your boots now.
Many here will be famliar with this one, but for others it is the rarer of the surviving ones.
Possibly the last ever performance of DC5? somebody may know.
Once again the audience and production (forget a couple of duff tunes) is brilliant from this period of TOTPs and the Caravel films are especially nuts IMHO
I wish they had kept a few more from this time

Herman's Hermits, Dave Dee etc and of course The Beatles

Herman's Hermits, Dave Dee etc and of course The Beatles I should've mentioned that The DC5 did indeed split in 1970, but Dave Clark and Mike Smith continued as 'Dave Clark and Friends' until 1973. So the DC5's (proper) final appearance in a TOTP studio would've been for 'Here Comes Summer'. The video below combines the TOTP performance of 'Everybody Get Together' with a coloured video, presumably by 'Dave Clark and Friends' as the other 3 aren't present (if anyone has the uncut colour video I'd love to see it!):

Brilliant! I think the start of 1970 was a high point for TOTP: Great title sequence and theme, fantastic set design, well directed and with a comparatively enthusiastic looking audience of young groovers. It really does look like the best discotheque in town. The 'videograms' mentioned in the end credits were an interesting feature for the early days of colour too and the TOTP orchestra were also particularly good at this time- one of the Jan 1970 editions features the Temptations' 'I Can't Get Next To You' - which knocks spots off the Motown version!
It's a shame the surviving complete editions of TOTP from 1970 are all from within a few weeks of each other, as there's inevitably quite a bit of crossover of featured songs. Lovely to see them though and you can only imagine how amazing it must have all looked in glowing pristine colour VT....
I wonder which edition was the first to feature that title sequence?

Two songs from this edition were later covered by Bananarama.

Much better quality than the time-coded copy I have that was doing the rounds years ago, shame the resolution is better though.

Was this particular edition not one of those run by the Einsfestival channel a few years ago? I know they showed one or both of the surviving Jan '70 shows.

Don't know why they skipped this one.
