I agree with you Peter (R.I.P.) Steve I just so happen to have been reading a superb book about Sweet called ("There's No Other Band Like Us") by Brad Jones www.facebook.com/TheSweetBookBradJones/

That looks WELL worth grabbing.
Sad to think that Andy Scott is the only surviving member of The Sweet.

"We just haven't got a clue what to do "
A colourful fun character on TOTPs that brightened up those brown and troubled times.
Sadly glam rock got forgotten for many years as even today some people just don't get it.

I remember getting into Glam Rock in the 1990s thanks to Sounds Of The 1970s and Top Of The Pops 2.
Channel 4 had a Glam Rock themed evening around this time which helped too.
Apart from some of the better artists it was very uncool to like it in the 1980s.

I think the Sweet were - like Slade - a really great rock band who made commercial singles and always seemed to put their all into whatever they did. Surely a "Sweet At The BBC" special (or even "At The BBC and Beyond", as was done with the Bee Gees) is long overdue? This excellent live Musikladen performance shows just how the band could more than hold their own alongside other rock acts of the period:

Gutted frankly, another childhood hero gone. At the risk of stirring the pot a little, farewell to “The Camp Nazi” RIP Steve.

Some TOTP rehearsal included as well.
