Episode 12 Tuesday 19th March 1963 BBC Living Today 1.30 - 2.05 pm
Millicent Martin Jimmy Crawford and The Ravens Annette Dorly and Ian Simmons Kim Martyn Grant Tracey and The Sunsets Valtino and The Walker Twins Jimmy Crawford and The Ravens Check out Jimmy Crawford Long Stringy Baby with perhaps The Ravens backing on this rock number! Jimmy came from Sheffield, but how about The Ravens ? Singer: Kim Martyn The only thing I can come up with is that Kim was on 4 episodes of Swingalong on The Light Programme for dates: Saturday 8 July 1967 14.31 pm; Monday 3 July 1967 14.00pm; Thursday 22 June 1967 15.00 as Kim Martyn with The Martin-Clark Trio; and Monday 19 June 1967 also as Kim Martyn with The Martin-Clark Trio. Other than this, a complete mystery singer? Can anyone find out more, with perhaps a photo ? Grant Tracey and The Sunsets All I can come up with is that they were a London group, formed at the beginning of the 1960s and lasted through the British Invasion era into the middle of the 1960s. Can anyone else pin any more down about this group please? Attachments:

Grant Tracy and the Sunsets included the guitarist Pete Dello who later formed Honeybus (they recorded some of his early songs). The CD pictured was issued in 2003 by RPM with the group's complete recordings (including some originally unreleased tracks) www.45worlds.com/cdalbum/cd/rpm255

Ian Crawford and The Boomerangs
Don and Nichol
Gerry and The Pacemakers
The Magicords
Sherlie YoungGerry and The Pacemakers need no introduction, so let's take a look at the first Band Ian Crawford and The BoomerangsAttachment DeletedAs one would guess, the name of the group has a “ down-under” connection, the lead vocalist – Ian Crawford, had emigrated to Australia at the age of 15 and had spent some time in the pop business releasing a couple of records and appearing on Australian TV, then decided to return to UK. With his group The Boomerangs he worked throughout the UK in the 60s and included several package shows supporting the Beatles. Ian Crawford and the Boomerangs had their first release in 1964 on Fontana Records – “Don’t Let her be your Baby” it was a cover of the US Contours number. Does anyone know more about them?Singer: Tino Valdi In 1961 he represented England at the third Coupe d’Europe international singing contest held at Knokke-le-Zoute in Belgium. Yes it is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_4_%2B_2In 1962, Brian Parker, then the guitar player and songwriter with The Hunters, decided to form his own vocal harmony group. He asked his friend David 'Buster' Meikle to join him. They asked singer Tommy Moeller and Peter Moules, who were at school together, to join their group which they called Unit 4.
Unit 4 was later joined by Russ Ballard on guitar and Robert 'Bob' Henrit on drums (forming the + 2) for a six piece, four-part vocal harmony group.

The Cadets may have been the Irish showband who appeared on Thank Your Lucky Stars a few months later on the week that the Rolling Stones made their TV debut in their houndstooth jackets www.irish-showbands.com/Bands/Cadets.htm
