When it was announced that 9 missing episodes of Dr Who had been found i was hoping it would be all 7 episodes of Marco Polo and the 2 missing episodes of the Crusade but it was great that 5 episodes of EOTW and 4 episodes of WOF had been discovered

Agreed - fantastic to get those episodes that were less well sold around the world and keep the hope that those early Hartnell's can still be found. It would be superb to get a completed series from the 60's hey. I heard that Part 4 of the Celestial Toymaker survived because it was accidentally filed as a cricket game because of it's title "The Final Test", though it could be an urban myth. Ha ha! That's brilliant! Fingers crossed there are some others misfiled like that! The Feast of Steven under Songs of Praise or something!

Would be great if we could do more to look for missing episodes than discuss rumors

Under the current circumstances, you might be pushing it & you’ve got to start somewhere!

Why not socially distance or self isolate with some classic DW?
Last night I watched Spiders and Day 📺👍

[Pedant] They weren't tapes that were found in Nigeria, they were film prints. [/Pedant]

Debbie Downer moment: I wish there was more excitement/hope for Troughton material. A much larger proportion of his great stories are lost compared to Hartnell's. I cannot get myself excited about anything from the Hartnell era anymore other than Masterplan, Myth Makers, The Savages or The Smugglers. There's too much to list on the Troughton side that would be a dream come true to get back. All subjective of course That being said, anything back would be great and Marco Polo is a fan favourite so a lot of folks would be happy.

Just over 10 years ago I was in touch with a US 16mm film dealer who claimed to have 2 Dr Who episodes from the late 60s and wanted $200 for them.
I asked him to send details and photos but he replied someone else has just bought them for $10,000 when he found out one was missing.
I repeated my question could he please just let me know the episode names, which by then he must’ve known to have said one was missing, but he didn’t reply.
It’s stuck at the back of my mind all these years but ultimately he never verified anything.

assuming the story is true, it is likely that a dealer was playing games with you.
If you are adamant about the authenticity, then you may want to pass the info to Paul, phil.or Segal. I think of Steve because as a film dealer, he knows the various people and might be able to communicate better with them.
Anyone who sold a film for 10,000 back then would not forget it.

Out of interest, is Paul the only one who knows who has these missing episodes?
Is the knowledge of who has these prints stored elsewhere? I mean what if (God forbid) something happened to Paul!
