That's a shame, but if it's been shown then a copy has to be about somewhere, the search goes on.

she'll let it go eventualy but you need to be a personal friend to get it before i surpose you could ask her, it couldn't hurt and you could also try beatles fan clubs and lennon fan clubs

Well I've written to Yoko and asked if it is possible to buy copies of some of the films she has in her archive, it will be interesting to see what response I get.

Don't forget, some of them do turn up at the bigger record fairs on bootleg VHS, sometimes, bunged onto a 3 or 4 hour VHS.
Yoko's archive is no doubt in one of the rooms of the Dakota building! It's unlikely to ever be made accessible to members of the public in any way.

Well I eventually managed to get a copy, but I think it's a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, I got hold of it from an eBay trader with some other misc Beatles bits. I have to confess though that, especially considering the dreadful quality, there are far, far more many interesting things to see than extended shots of John Lennon's erect willy!

What else is on the tape, Rick? Is he selling further copies?

The tape also contains mainly Ready Steady Go! performances and what looks like some other home move footage, posibly Yoko's but I don't honestly know, the quality of the whole tape is pretty poor though as I think it's been copied quite a few times. I have no idea if he's selling any other copies, I only got hold of this by looking on eBay and then asking sellers who were selling Beatles items if they had what I was looking for, and the one guy offered me a "compilation tape" which I bought, it's nice to have in the collection but it's by no means good quality. I already had the RSG footage in much better quality so it was only really the home movie footage and "self portrait" which I didn't have.

Both "Smile" and "Rape" seemed to have snuck out of the archives, as has "The Luck of the Irish" a home-movie about the making of the song. Funnily enough, for years people presumed "Erection" was the willy film, although in reality all that was was a slow film of the construction of a hotel in Kensington! I have some out-takes from "Fly" but I'm intrigued where and how "Self Portrait" surfaced (and can someone help me get a copy!) cheers Si
