I did wonder the mentions of Troughton stories being shown by local stations in Nigeria in the 1980s have been proved one way or the other. There's no first-hand evidence that any Troughton was shown in the 80s. All the available mentions online (Twitter/Facebook etc) of Nigerian viewers watching DW in the late 70s, the 80s and 90s are for Tom Baker only. So, lots of eye-witnesses seeing Baker but none for Troughton. I think I saw it in one of Peter Haining's books, & it seemed to be one of the many Dr Who myths for a decade or two.

Well we did have Patrick Troughton in Nigeria as late as 1977 so that in a way is close to the 1980's

We've mentioned that some British shows like The Avengers were shown at South African cinemas, was this common elsewhere in countries without TV or limited coverage?

Does this explain why episodes were found in a Sierra Leone cinema ?

Didn’t PV intimate somewhere that there was some evidence that the 2 audition prints of Marco Polo may still exist but are unreachable or is it just wishful thinking & an active imagination on my part? Paul did say that he's aware of a collector who has 2 DW episodes but declined to say what they were. Is this the same thing but with someone having ingrained their own speculation on what they might be? Or is this something separate? I've heard that the two episodes in question are Savages Ep 2 and Myth Makers 4 (or perhaps the other way around, ie Savages 4 and MM 2).

I would really like to see footage from The Savages in particular.

Because I was under the impression that the only two people that know are Paul Vanezis and the collector himself.

Is it possible to have a quick recap of exactly what PV said?

The Myth Makers and Savages rumor is from a tweet by Mark Gatiss who opined that we are overdue for a reveal and was okay with them being from those two stories. (I assume under the idea that they’d be the least wanted eps).
The issue is that those serials work nicely with Paul’s comment that two eps are safe with a collector. One from the Australian return and another that wasn’t.
The rumor that both are Hartnell came from a third party that said Paul had told him that.
... that’s what I can remember.

Is it possible to have a quick recap of exactly what PV said? That the guy CLAIMS to have two episodes of Doctor Who. He's told Paul what episodes they are, and they are indeed both missing from the archives (Paul won't say which as, quote: "I don't think that'd work for him"), but Paul hasn't seen them at all so cannot verify if this claim is true or not.

It was perhaps 2-3 years ago I heard it, and it stuck in my mind, especially as the Savages is one of my more wanted returns.

I’m after PV’s exact words - they’re on here, I expect, somewhere. We need to know exactly what he said.

I'm not one to start rumours nor be a mouthpiece for them. His quote is from a Radio FreeSkaro podcast, it was never posted on here. Here it is nonetheless:
