Montreux will be released, but not with the box set. There are good reasons why!

Interesting....
I’m guessing this may have something to do with the release of the German episodes as well? (Would be great if the original film still exists for those, as good as the German Pidax DVD from the 2” masters looks)

If that is so, then I wonder if it's not the same idea that I tried to sell years ago - some kind of continentally themed set. Could have easily reached well over two hours. Except that now is a nice and topical timing!

Except that now is a nice and topical timing! Would be a great set of prime Python, the German episodes, Montreux, the Dutch sketch from 73, May Day, etc. Would be great to get some non Python individual comedy appearances as well like the Aquarius Cleese and Idle bit and the Terry and Michael “Glass” sketch. Basically master copies of most of the stuff on the Python Museum YouTube channel!

Paul V. is definitely aware of them; perhaps they weren't considered missing so not mentioned as returned?

Hi.
Of the six episodes comprising series 4 three were cut for the 1976 repeat, although only Mr. Neutron was cut for timing purposes. The other two were LE War and Party Political Broadcast.
We have both versions of all but Mr. Neutron, and the longer versions are included as standard on the release. Mr. Neutron is now back as it was, but with reduced quality in two places.

I had no idea that Party Political Broadcast was cut at all! Funny that no evidence of the original broadcast being longer ever turned up.
This is easily going to be release of the year for me. Never thought I’d see Flying Circus ever get the love it deserves!
I’m interested in the “Tonight Tonight I’m getting pissed tonight” line being edited out in 1979 and no longer on any master, how did it end up on the US VHS in the 80s? (And I assume the Laserdisc as well)

(And I assume the Laserdisc as well) Hmm. No idea it was on the laser disc or VHS. Who released them? "Tonight, tonight..." was cut before TX, but like several other episodes (Book at Bedtime being one), the original edits survived long enough to be given to The Pythons at the end of 1979. Unfortunately those original PAL tapes were sent to the US when Devillier Donegan distributed the series for a short time. We only have an NTSC umatic recording of this and Book at Bedtime, although we have resurrected 'Book at Bedtime' as you will see. What is common to both of these NTSC recordings is that they are cropped big time due to a crude late 70's converter being used. Paul

Out of interest, the mute footage, it could not be re-spoken, or subtitled?

Out of interest, the mute footage, it could not be re-spoken, or subtitled? No time to revoice and meet the deadline, but it is subtitled. So in the case of the 'Scott of the Antarctic' sketch, it is 11 minutes long in the TX, but the complete sketch is 15 minutes in length. The additional content is subtitled. With Ron Obvious, a cut was made to the print and mag prior to the studio date. During the tape edit, additional material was cut out. Of course, we have the sound for those bits. But when we transferred the neg, we found the previously excised bit, so I have subtitled that. Other content that is subtitled includes the additional live action for 'How Not to be Seen', and the 'Sir Philip Sidney' sketch from 'E. H Thripshaw's Disease'. All very exciting! Paul

If I may say so, without sounding ungrateful, it is a pity that there isn't time for redubbing. A couple of things could be combined (German episode #2). The technology is no longer difficult or expensive - although it's of course still easier said than done. (It could if necessary be done with a laptop and a suitable microphone as long as you had a python in a room with no background noise.)

We could have waited, but it would have meant delaying until the middle of next year.
