When Power of the Daleks was animated, the US got it digitally (iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, etc.) at about the same time as the UK but had to wait for the DVD. When Enemy and Web were first announced, the US got them on iTunes at the same time as the UK. The US had to wait several months for the DVD of Shada but the digital copies were made available very quickly. So...what about Macra? I know that we have to wait several months for it to come out on DVD (why? ??) but I literally can’t find ANYTHING online about a digital release at all. Does anyone know anything? (I would have been tempted to torrent it to watch just until the official release was available so I could buy it but nobody has ripped and uploaded it yet.)

Thanks. I already tried that for both Amazon and iTunes. They’re region locked so you can’t buy them outside the UK.

Region 2/B PAL vs Region 1/A NTSC. You can get a region free player or a PS4 to play Region 2/B PAL content.

Its easy to get a multi region Blue Ray and DVD player in the USA. I have three players that play Blue Ray from around the world and 3 regular DVD players that play PAL DVDs from around the world. I used to have Multi system VHS and Betamax but they finally went to the grave yard in summer of 2015.
The Blue Ray player come with instructions so you can boot it up as a Region A, B or C player. Very easy to go back and forth between Blue Ray regions

There are also many dvd players sold in the US that can be un-locked or reset to play PAL instead of NTSC. There are several free web sites that will provide you with the codes to enter to reprogram such dvd players. I have done this several times on my own players and it works beautifully. No need to wait for domestic US releases, and many dvds never released on NTSC can be enjoyed, as well. Definitely worth considering.

Thanks, everyone. I will probably go for those multi-region players. Although, as a software developer, I should just write the code to run on my Linux laptop.

IF your in the USA there are many places that sell them, you can have it in your house in as little as 72 hours (standard UPS shipping) or even faster if you want to pay for it. And multi region players that convert from PAL to NTSC are plug and play no reprograming required. I have one that is a really el cheapo model I bout 2 years ago for like $28 to give you an idea. A good player you can get for $50 - $75 US Dollars

My copy of Macra arrived in today's post. It is Region 2 PAL, obtained through Amazon UK. Just started watching it and it plays just fine in my unlocked dvd player. Did not expect any issues as I have ordered Region 2 PAL discs many times before and they all work in my units. And, yes - I am watching the b/w version as it is what I am used to.
