As it’s a stand alone episode without the Doctor and such a faithful recreation, it really is better than animation in this case and is, in effect (almost) as good as a recovery. Brilliant work

Brilliant work Yes, it really does have the feel of a recovery! (or, as you say, a mere sliver away from this - mainly because we know, despite their superbly authentic performances, that it's not the original actors). Among it's various techniques of realization I particularly liked the actors' completely true-to-the-period received pronunciation skills - without even the faintest intrusive glimmer of parody or irony.

Yes, it made me desperate to watch Dalek Masterplan. As we have 3 episodes and the LC recon, I might just do that.
I must say that I far preferred this to animation, and it goes to show just how much a dedicated bunch of enthusiasts can do. I'd like to think it might point the way towards more of the same. A wonderful evocation of the 1960s, and a heartfelt congratulations to all involved. DVD release please!

A truly outstanding production that is a shinning example of a labour of love. Thanks to all who made this possible. It made me yearn for the who of yesteryear

Watched this this morning and it's truly wonderful.A faithful re-creation of a piece of television history not only for entertainment purposes but also as an examination of how 60s TV was made under the financial, spacial and monetary pressures of that era. Also, looking at the scenery and back-drops,it's as if we as fans of the black and white era are watching ourselves in a dream about missing episodes! The final caption reads THE DALEKS WILL BE BACK!.Let's hope so,if it's The Dalek's Masterplan in a production as superlative as this one.Fantastic and well-done to all those involved!

I really loved the feel of the recon. It was a master class in 60s tv. I found Malpha’s northern accent a bit jarring, but I don’t know how that compares with the original. This production was a universe better than the animations. What episodes could they resurrect in a similar way without the need for the regular cast? Are there any Doctor/ companion light episodes of DMP?

In my humble opinion the original 1965 version of Malpha's voice was not a brilliant decision from a artistic perspective and probably not very good for the vocal chords from a medical one. In this case they woulda been better to improve that aspect: like tone down the delivery or soften the vocal approach or try something different. Even tho I am usually a purist. That being said the actors delivery was very close to the original . Apart from the Yorkshire accent tho lol!!! : -{] hahahaha

The one minor quibble I have with this (and also with the Day of the Daleks special edition on dvd) are the Dalek voices. Nicholas Briggs does a fantastic job, no doubt, but his Daleks are a tad more emotional than '60's Daleks and I would have preferred it if he dialed down his performance a bit.

The Daleks might be the one place where I would use the original soundtrack in the final product of these recreations. And if they did this with "The Wheel in Space", I would do the same thing with the Cybermen.

Yes Nick Briggs Daleks are very much of the 21st Century and I would agree the soundtrack Hawkins/Graham Daleks would have been preferable. Although I love Day of the Daleks I have never played the alternative version on the DVD as I have no desire to hear Nick on a 1970s story where, in my opinion, he has no place.

I thought it was great but i had a few niggles - mainly the dalek voices in the conference room.sounded a bit poor -if it gets a release on a blu ray set in the future i hope the sound mix could be altered as it would be a shame to spoil a lovely production with dodgy sound

Further to my last post, I'm now halfway through watching Daleks' Masterplan, that's 3 real episodes and 9 Loose Cannon reconstructions. I must say that the transition between surviving and reconstructed episodes is not at all jarring, and I find myself almost not noticing which I'm watching. The LC recon (as always) is so good that the story is totally engrossing. I find it atmospheric and satisfying in a way that animation just isn't, and if anyone hasn't tried the recons, I heartily endorse them. Of course, I'm just coming up to Feast Of Steven, so, wish me luck, I'm going in...
