This series was produced by Peter Kennedy then of the EFDSS. The 39 episodes were recorded in two blocks of 6 weeks each in 1966 / 67 at a fictitious folk club in the basement of Cecil Sharp House with a specially invited folkie audience. It featured up and coming folk singers such as Martin Carthy, The Watersons, Young Tradition, and other luminaries such as Cyril Tawney, Steve Benbow, and comperes Robin Hall and Jimmy McGregor.
The BBC Transcription Service edited the takes and then sold the discs to Australia, New Zealand and the BFBS. We have off-air taped recordings in varying degrees of fidelity. And just recently acquired a pristine set of 13 episodes on discs.
There are a few clippettes uploaded to YouTube (not from me).
But we want to fill the gaps. Episode 28 is proving really elusive.
Thank you.

Did individual episodes have titles?

No - we refer to them as LFSC 01 / 02 / - / 39 etc. The T'Discs were sold to overseas radio stations, incl. the ABC, NZBC, BFBS.
The programmes were aired in the UK but only LFSC 01 - 13.
Most of what we have are off-air recordings. There are two compilations from German listeners at the BFBS Archives.
- but this site has not been updated since about 2015 despite numerous contributions since then (mainly pop). SB

Quote: “The programmes were aired in the UK but only LFSC 01 - 13.”
Correction: Only episodes 1 to 7 were aired in the UK, according to Genome.

The entire series of 39 programmes were sold by the BBC to American distribution company Hartwest. They produced their own transcription discs with purple and silver labels. Whilst a number of these discs have been auctioned on various collector sites, no off-air tapes of LFSC have been found in the USA to date. Who aired the programmes? We don’t know.
Incidentally the Australian historic newspaper database ‘Trove’ has references to the series being aired not only in Australia but also to Papua New Guinea. Quite what the locals there thought of English traditional folk singing is a moot point!!
