Radio Free Skaro has released a new podcast featuring the Restoration Team at the end. They're discussing missing episodes besides other topics. Not much new information, but still quite interesting insight.

In it, Paul confirms that he knows of a collector who has 16 mm film cans with labels indicating that they contain two missing Doctor Who episodes, one of which may have come from the 1975 return from Australia, but the other definitely not. Paul has not examined the contents so he cannot confirm whether the films match the cans.

Definitely well worth a listen and very exciting to learn that Mark Ayers has located Desmond Briscoe's magnetic soundtrack of 'An Unearthly Child' on 1/4" tape, recorded directly from the original video tape.
This should be a significant upgrade from the optical soundtrack that we're all used to.

Interesting. It sounds like the film collector that probably has two missing Who episodes isn't even much of a Who fan - I wonder what the reasoning is for not returning them, and/or if not being a Who fan makes it more likely he may be persuaded to do so...! Fingers crossed.

We've heard variations on this tale so many times that if it hadn't come from such a reputable source there would have been cynical imprecations flying by now! However, I rest assured that it's all in good hands and hope to receive news of a positive outcome in the fullness of time. Good luck to all involved.

There is one question that never seems to be asked, so Paul if your reading this. Is there a reason why these two films have not been given two you?
Does the guy not want to give them back?
Does he like the idea he is the only one with a copy and does not want to devalue their uniqueness?
Do we know how long he has had them and where they originated?
Cheers.

Pointing him in the direction of the positive experience Terry Burnett had when he returned those episodes might be a good conversation starter resulting in a return?

In light of this news and as a matter of interest...which 2 episodes would you folks like to see returned the most?
I'd go with Power 1 and then a tough choice between Evil 7, Master Plan 12, or Fury 6.
Often seen people state their favourite serials, but I can't really remember a similar question pertaining to individual episodes.

Evil 7, Fury 6, you bet. But any missing Pat Troughton, really.
