www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdI9R-riT5A"Evil Hearted You" live on "German TV". This looks like to be a previously uncirculating recording. But there is no verified info that Yardbirds appeared on TV shows in Germany in 1965. Could it be one of the "lost" UK shows?

My guess is 'Ready, Steady, Go!'... that sounds suspiciously like Cathy McGowan at the beginning, and certainly not a German presenter.

If you want a good History of the Yardbirds, you need Jim McCarty's Book 'Nobody told me' Top's writing a book, he was telling me about it a while back, so that be a good one to look forward to as well.

Thanks for the link, Sal.
Well worth a quote:
"Speaking of home tapers (as I have a couple of times up there), there are two in particular who have made this set so upgradable and a truly worthwhile project. I will likely be mentioning others later - this has been a massive “Team Yardbird” effort. Usually we never get to know the back story of these historical benefactors but here's two of whom I can tell -
Leon Tipler was a home taping enthusiast and apparently one of the many people who attended Home Recording / Hi Fi clubs in the 1960’s. He may have been a member of the Clacton Tapers Guild ? These people would tape anything - radio, local concerts / meetings, trains etc... and compare results / techniques, share tips etc... Leon passed away a few years back but a friend of his, Gavin West mentioned that he had inherited his friend’s tapes and among them, seemingly completely randomly, were several numbers by The Yardbirds. Gavin wanted to make sure Leon's passion was preserved. Happy to oblige Gavin !! Leon's tapes featured four tracks from their completely lost debut session with Jeff (Saturday Club 20th March 1965) and four tracks from Saturday Swings (12th June 1965). Six of those eight tracks were missing performances and the other two (Louise and I’m Not Talking) were massive upgrades. Leon clearly had an “inline” recording method and a more than decent tape machine because the quality of the tracks is fall off your chair good. Well, myself, DocDondy and Hallucalation did not fall off our chairs but the astonished unrepeatable expletives certainly flew... Even more remarkable is that Leon kept the tracks for decades and his friend looked to make sure his mate’s work would get out there and be appreciated. Leon Tipler R.I.P. and huge thanks to Gavin West - round of applause please....".
"The second taper who filled in several gaps including lost performances, upgrades and extra bits to tidy up intros / outros is a gentleman called Barry McCann. Barry was a young Yardbirds fan who saw the band regularly and hung out with them a bit. He even got to attend a rehearsal or two. Being the fan he was, he taped quite a few of their BBC Radio appearances and while his set up wasn’t fully pro., you guys are going to finally hear lost BBC tracks including Pretty Girl, Respectable, the 1965 Top Gear version of I’ve Been Trying (the version previously released as from that show is from Saturday Club 1966) and more. Plus we were able to upgrade several other performances.
Massive round of applause for Barry plase."
Amen to the accolades.
