The Doctor Who audio tapes have proved to be quality recordings! Included is a bit of Sky at Night (was this missing?). The recordings are proving to be quite impressive!

Yes. The two 'Sky at Night' episodes (one incomplete) are both missing shows.
From that period, most 'Sky at Night' programmes were pre-recorded, but not all were. Only a handful were ever sold although a great many more were film recorded.

A trailer, announcement, or a few seconds we didn't have audio for? Or is it all purely upgrades? I'm really happy for this return. I hope it spurs the recovery of other Randolph Tapes ... if any existed in the first place.

Voice-over credits to Terry Nation and another gentleman re the Daleks/music, ditto one about 'Billy Bunter',a 'at slightly different time next week'... www.zetaminor.com/roobarb/showthread.php?44392-Missing-Episodes-Rumours-speculation-and-recovery-announcements/page408

I think we did have everything. However, Mark will be able to confirm and obviously there will be some content which is better than what we already have, particularly with 'The Daleks' Masterplan'. There is also another collection that I have yet to deliver to Mark, t apes which were recorded by my old friend the late Paul Reeks. They are microphone recordings of very varying quality, but there are some gems amongst the tapes. Paul

We are so very lucky that Dr Who appealed so much to home tapers and that so many recordings survived.

....Well that came out of the blue (at least for me)! I'm particularly pleased about superior recordings for 'Masterplan though as a recent re-listening of the story reminded me of the distractingly uneven quality of the existent audio. Especially when compared to those of other missing stories. A great start to 2019 then and hopefully just the beginning of 'Who themed riches to come this year?!

Very curious to hear the apology! Absolutely lovely to have the continuity bits intact!

The chap that found these put it on Twitter and I immediately put Mark Ayres onto them. So that's my small involvement!

Did you ask him more like where they came from?
Hopefully the original source had more dr who as well as other missing series episodes
also if you put him onto mark ares, how did kaleidoscope get involved?

DMPs first half audio was of lesser quality, which I thought would be a barrier to animation. Hopefully the addition of these tapes will reduce or remove that barrier.

I never could find good quality audio of The Massacre, it always sounded muffled.
Nice.

Hopefully the original source had more dr who as well as other missing series episodes also if you put him onto mark ares, how did kaleidoscope get involved? I can't answer your last question, I only put him in contact with Mark. I could speculate but that'd be pointless. My first question, via DM, was about the original source. It appears these tapes came into his possession rather fortuitously. They were probably only moments from being destroyed for good before being rescued. It's probably not my place to divulge any more than that. Only to say a) there's no way (as I understand it) to contact the original owner and b) we're EXTREMELY lucky to have these recordings.
