I adored this story and it’s in my top 5 Troughtons! I’m so happy!

Well, it's what we all expected and it's awesome. The animation also seems to be an improvement over the PotD animation, so I'll happily buy it. It was always one of my favourite Patrick Troughton stories and (on par with The Celestial Toymaker) my most wanted animated story. And since Paul once called at one of the least likely DWs to be returned I think it is a pretty good choice for an animation. (Though I'd be more than ready to buy it a second, third, fourth and fifth time, if they found any Macra episodes)

This looks wonderful. Why am I more excited about this than the releases of season 19 and 18 boxsets?

They won't do this, but they should totally have a collectors edition with a miniature wonky Macra, modelled exactly like it was in the story. Pardon me if I'm wrong, but I recall that it was on wheels? Add them too if so.
It's crazy but hilarious. I would take full advantage of the tongue in cheek hilarity of the hairy plastic crab.

Why they did not simply announce to the world that it was going to be an animated release months ago when it started showing up on Amazon and other places I will never know. It would have ended a lot of endless speculation. Now I can guess which DVD The Wheel in Space animation from episode 1 will be attached to.

Lots of stuff gets leaked from games and films but the company won't acknowledge anything until their set date. It's just the way it is, for whatever reason. It would be best to just come clean, but I suppose they have to dance it around anything else they're releasing. For instance, if they did announce it earlier, it would likely be under a shared spotlight with the 5th Doctor box set, since these rumours have been circulating for a bit. And I guess devouring each other's brief spotlight isn't the best idea. It is what it is, tho.

Subterfuge seems to be the current modus operandi when it comes to anything concerning missing episodes, obviously to create publicity and then sales.Welcome to missing episodes 21st century style.

"Announced"?
Considering we heard a rumour a while back, perhaps this thread should be renamed "Macra Terror Animation CONFIRMED"...

My point was both The Macra Terror and The Wheel in Space have been available to pre order on Amazon / Amazon UK for ages. You list it on line and the secrets out. If you want to keep it a deep dark secret don't tell your prospective retailers about something you don't want leaked. Its all a bit silly.
Tell The World its coming on such and such a date and then that ends all the drama, pointless speculation and emails back and forth. We have known about these two on and off since I think early September.
Ill bet since they announced another Tom Baker series on Blue Ray now they don't want to get lost behind that and have people not ordering the animation cause they spent there money on the Blue Ray set ?
