Alex it was posted on Richards Twitter, Retweeted on TIEAs twitter on December 9th, i remembered where i saw it earlier
4:3 1080 files are 1440 x 1080 and 16:9 are 1920 x 1080 so its common to switch between the 2 and black bars can easily be generated to make a 1920 x 1080 video or the image streched to fit.

Richard's software was written for 1920 x 1080 HD telecine transfers of 4:3 telerecording footage. After colour recovery processing, it's resampled and down-scaled back to 4:3 standard def. Pillarboxed footage with black borders would cause the software to fail, as the horizontal frequency profile would fall outside the software's processing parameters.

Both the M&Ws are being shown in colour on Boxing Day on BBC2. That's brilliant! The Morecombe and Wise screened at MBW was absolutely hilarious. It'll be a real treat on Boxing Day.

Paul Thanks Paul🍺 For some of us seeing them is on a par with missing DW and we really appreciate all the time and effort. Could any of the improvements outlined here give a better Dinosaurs 1? 😀

Dinosaurs 1 really needs something similar to Planet of the Daleks 3: i.e. two different recolourisation processes combined. Unfortunately it's very time consuming. You would need to colour key frames by hand for each shot, as was done for Mind Of Evil 1, then motion track those, and mix in some of the single quadrant colour recovery processed video from the existing DVD release.

Paul - I take it the M&Ws are being shown on Boxing Day at 4x3 and the BBC trailer where the shots are 16x9 were zoomed in just for that promo?

Does anyone know if there is any audio available online, in particular Phil's interview, from last weekend's MBW event? Thanks.

I have shot an introduction for the first episode which is #7. #5 is being shown second with both preceded by the 1971 Christmas special. Paul

It has been my greatest pleasure seeing the process through from initial film prep to a colour grade. Invasion of the Dinosaurs needs a very specific intervention to improve its outlook; it really needs to be hand coloured. Paul

I remember M&W on the BBC in the 70s, I saw Angela Rippon - twice! Four decades later they’re still funny and at the moment Boxing Day evening on BBC2 is looking like my, Christmas highlight🍺
What’s really interesting is how this all comes from the DW ME search. DW is the highest profile search but PM has now recovered a quarter of M&W’s first colour season and thanks to Vidfire, Colour Recovery, etc we’re going to see them very close to how they were originally broadcast 😀
So, please pass this 😇 onto all involved.
