If you could pick any season from 1-6 to have all of its episodes found, what would it be and why? I personally would pick Season 3 as there are no telesnaps and quite a lot is missing from it. Despite it being a mixed bag in terms of the quality of the stories and the fact that Season 4 has more episodes missing (and no complete stories), I find that Season 3 is far more difficult to visualise due to no telesnaps existing. Season 3 also happens to be the Season that my favourite Hartnell story is from (The Myth Makers).

Always tricky, but I would have to go for season 5 on the weight of abominable and fury. Followed by season 4 and then 3.

Season 5 is probably my favourite in terms of the stories (Fury is my second most wanted serial after Evil) however I can still visualise it in my head fairly easily due to the telesnaps. The same cannot be said for Season 3 where we don't even know what some characters even looked like.

Season 4 without a doubt. The least-watched 1960s Doctor Who serial (The Smugglers), William Hartnell's final episode and the first regeneration (The Tenth Planet), Patrick Troughton's first episodes (The Power of the Daleks), the last 1960s historical (The Highlanders), the end of the Daleks (The Evil of the Daleks) and more. A truly amazing and diverse season, and in my opinion, a very underrated season as a collective.

Season 4. It would return most episodes. Contains many of my favorite stories. No complete serials extant. Season 3 & 5 are tied in second place, but that all because of DMP vs Snowman, Wheel, Fury. Third place to Season 6, as I want to see Space Pirates as I think it is underrated and poorly represented by its remnants. Never was to interested in missing material from 1 & 2, besides, they are already well represented. To be honest, I just want them all and I want them now. <=This may come as a shock.....

Season 4, probably. As it stands, we don't have a single complete story, so...
Would be nice.

I chose Season 3 because with the severe lack of episodes, especially in the first half of the season, we lose a sense of the period, cause as we all know, Doctor Who was an ever changing show, and we lose a lot of that. Think about it; of the first 25 episodes of Season 3, we have four episodes, and three of which are from the same story. That's four stories with little to no visual material. There's only so much the soundtrack can offer for us. Now I know Season 4 has fewer surviving episodes, but this is the thing; Season 4 has Tele-snaps for every episode, so you DO get a visual record of how the episodes played out on screen. Myth only has a few seconds of material for its four episodes, sure, but Massacre, Galaxy 4, Mission to the Unknown and the latter half of Daleks' Master Plan are far more mysterious. We have almost nothing, and publicity photos only present so much of an atmosphere. There were three Deserts, as the reviewer SF Debris once put it: The first half of Season 3, All of Season 4, and the second half of Season 5. Since Enemy and Web were found, the 3rd desert has since gone; so now there are only TWO deserts. I would love for the first of those deserts to disappear too. I'm just keeping my eyes open for a blue box carrying film cans.

One would hope that by the time Jodie Whitakker hands over the baton to her successor, box sets for all these seasons will be available. As she famously said (predicted?) in a recent interview:
“But the wonder of it is, when you fall in love with the show like I have, you’ve then got a 55-year history to go back on. You’ve got box set after box set!”

I was going to tick Season 3 due to the lack of material available for many of the episodes. I did end up voting for Season 4 in the end due to the fact we don't have a complete story from that season.

Voted for Season 4 for the simple reason that seeing the early development of Troughton's character in full would be an unparalleled delight.

Very difficult choice for me, as it's hard to choose between Seasons 3 and 4. So many holes and so many excellent serials. In the end I went with Season 4. As others have said, it's Troughton's first year, includes the last historicals for both Doctors and the two Dalek serials.
I really do hope they turn up Myth Makers some time though, that's one of my top wishes for a recovery.
