I remembered ‘unforgettable’ on channel 4 but I don’t even remembered seeing the Thames TV version a year earlier in 1981.was it only seen in London or was it nationally networked?are there any clips of the Thames version on YouTube?let me know because I’d like to see them.as Alan Freeman hosted it I think he was only heard on all the shows but not seen.

I believe the Thames TV version was only shown locally, though I've never seen anything from this series either. Did C4 repeat performances from the Thames TV series I wonder?

I know this is quite old but it raises quite a few comments. I was in essence the floor manager for these shows although I was credited with a slightly different title. As resident DJ where the shows were filmed I also did audience warm up,was the main contact for most of the artists, and even ghosted some of the interviews for Alan Freeman; most importantly for me was Chubby Checker who I don't think was on the show list. Neither was Kay Starr. My daughter Wendy led the parade of The Mottingham Majorettes on a couple of shows, and she also waltzed with Clive Dunn in the song Grandad. I compered the pilot show for the Cannes Festival featuring Marvin Gaye and Tina Charles apart from the Morton Music Machine although I don't think it was ever broadcast as the tv companies wanted a household name, hence Alan Freeman was brought in. Incidentally the Morton Music Machine was led by guitarist Mike Morton who is in fact Michael Collier the creator of the show I even recorded some of the backing vocals with him. As for the suggested dispute it went in front of the Lord of the Rolls and was overturned. Russel Turner, vision mixing, cameras, lighting and recording engineers were bona fide. We also recorded some chat shows featuring Norman Wisdom, Jimmy Tarbuck, Henry Cooper and others. Unfortunately I have only a few recordings of the shows, I will try to see what I have. I am so glad you found the shows of interest it was great to be involved as a bass playing vocalist I had worked in support of some of the acts in the 60's. Many thanks Mike Bartlett
