as youve started the ball rolling (they might have something forgotten somwhere, who knows for certain??), you could always write back and try and politely explain the situation simply and without emoting (not criticism, just a sugestion!) and who knows we might gain a powerful exponent of finding missing material. It would make for a good xmas speech anyway Perhaps tactfully point out the BBCs kinda half assed efforts in this direction Anyway, nice one for trying and good luck for future hunts

As far as I know there are no copies of these episodes retained at either Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle, as any recordings sent here are always returned to source after their use. Which is roughly what said to begin with. Still, thanks for trying anyway...

Thanks guys. I will see if I get replies to the other two letters and then see if its worth another letter depending on what they say. I think its 99% unlikely anything further will happen though. Yes It would have been nice if Her Majesty showed a clip of Katarina floating through space from her copy of The Dalek's Master Plan Episode 4 in her Christmas address.

Chris - thanks for following up my original comments which started this thread. I hope you get replies to your other two letters and I remain optimistic. Can anybody think of any other possible VIP recipients of private copies of tv shows in the sixties?

Can anybody think of any other possible VIP recipients of private copies of tv shows in the sixties? Plenty of options, starting with relevant TV executives and then moving on to politicians etc, eg, for BBC programmes: Hugh Carleton Greene, Huw Wheldon, David Attenborough, Donald Baverstock, Michael Peacock, Stuart Hood, Paul Fox...Norman Brook, Charles Hill...Harold Wilson...

8-)Why not ask Prince Andrew. After all, he admits being a big Dr Who fan and regularly watched in the 1960s and 1970s.
